New coach, new hope and it's an even year - how will the Dees go?

IIRC they got hit hard by injuries last season but IMHO their whole season resembled our last 7 games. A dodgy defence, a patchy midfield and two ageing and injury prone forward stars in Robertson and Neitz doesn't look like a potent mix to me.

Without major injuries they may crack 9 -12 but with major injuries finish where they did in 2007.

Is this being too pessimistic?

Better than 2007. Will improve and might even sneak into the 8.

Fair enough - why?

Fair enough - why?

They had more injuries than we ever had.

They only had about 27 players available at one stage and when they had their best side for the year they beat us

And that was a tough task wasn't it.

I think Melbourne have some good young players in the likes of Dunn, Bate, McLean, Sylvia etc as well as Morton surely going to be straight into their mix. If these younger players step up again I think they can expect to have some reasonable success. They should be aiming to make the 8, but quite likely will just miss out, imo.

We weren't completely devasted at that stage yet. We were once we lost.

Melbourne did not have a great season in 2007.

A new coach - perhaps will reignite them. They need a bit of luck to go their way, injuries have savaged them in recent times.

Prediction: 10 - 13th or thereabouts.

16 to 14 for mine. I think the new coach will struggle because the team is still a few years away for getting much better. He will do well with them in a few seasons.
