As above, our AFLW Premiership Winning Coach has been rewarded with a contract extension until the end of 2020. Congratulations to him.

He deserves it after reinventing the team with a new game plan and winning a premiership

He was terrible in the first season, trying to implement a game plan not suited to women’s football at that stage. Turning it around and making the girls all the better for it, was truly remarkable and he certainly deserves his contract extension.

Where did the AFLW team finish last year? It was like second or third last wasn't it?

Think it was 3rd last but in that season we only had one forward who was injured .
All clubs learnt quickly you need two forwards and even though we lost one we had a couple of backs who could move forward.
I have found the women's sides tend to play the same as the men AFL side structurally.

We finished 1st in 2018, hence the home GF. There were no preliminary or semi finals.

PP, Twodogs was talking about 2017.

I should have said first year, that would have been better.

My mistake. Misread your post, somehow didn't read the word 'last' which completely altered the impression.

My mail is that he wasn't given the autonomy he should have in his first year, and was pushed to implement that game plan. Second year was able to just focus on getting the basics/skills right and it paid dividends.
