What made Vandermeer’s game better than everyone else’s?

To my eye he kicked 2 goals of which one was a ‘joe the goose’ and the 2nd from a set shot when he was standing all by himself.

Not a 4 votes game for me but I gave him 1 vote myself. Kicked 2 goals which in my book goal kicking is so important. Also our only multiple goalscorer.

Really hard to meaningfully contribute to these post match threads when you only have a radio call.

From that call, it seemed Smith, Hunter and Keath played well.

Speaking of Smith, very impressive that a 19 year old played so well in 3 beltings we have received this year.

Thought he was our best forward on a dirty night and his efforts were a lot better than some of our more experienced players. Also recall some other good passages of play by him outside of forward line. Was named amongst best by the age so am not alone thinking he went alright. Almost gave votes to Bont for his efforts in 2nd half and for Hunter gut running whole game. Possibly would give latter votes if I watched game again but I am not a glutton for punishment.

Totally agree. He was the only one who looked like he knew how to position himself and not get in the way of the tall forwards. If the ball had come in properly he could have finished with 4 goals. In only his fifth game and after concussion last week, I was impressed.

Should have nailed those two set shots in the alst, especially the first one.

Would have put us within 2 goals and given us the momentum. Huge miss.

Stick to your votes Josie, it is your opinion, no need to justify the post.

With his 4 scoring shots he was the only forward who looked like giving us momentum.

It was painfully obvious from the first bounce which team was going to have the momentum. Our progress relied on individual efforts and I thought he was good. What hurt us most happened before the weekend.

Thanks for support posters.

More than happy to be challenged & yeah I will stick to my votes. An aspect of woof I think is a real positive is that we can (most of time) agree to disagree with courtesy and decorum.

Fascinating seeing different perspectives on best players.

Despite the horrid outcome (I was swearing like a trooper throughout the game) I think we have some exciting young talent. Just hope we can adjust when our game plan is not working and find a way to score in a crowded forward line. Being beaten is one thing, but being thrashed by 50+ points sucks!!

When they kicked clear after Vandermeer's early miss in the last quarter, I was keen to see who'd stick it out. There weren't many, unfortunately.
