Elimination final fixture confirmed (https://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/news/817698?fbclid=IwAR3H0NzYAQn8z8_W8Fiah4wRaUHNkJGrx_hikgT4f7B9 180Wu4-_5_xFAIc)

The Gabba will host the Saints-Dogs clash at 4.40pm AEST on Saturday 3 October.

The AFL has today announced the fixtures for the first week of the 2020 Toyota AFL Finals Series.

A twilight clash awaits for the seventh-placed Western Bulldogs in the second elimination final, against sixth-placed St Kilda.

The Gabba will host the Saints-Dogs clash at 4.40pm AEST on Saturday 3 October.

It will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.

The winner will progress to a semi-final against the loser of Friday night’s second qualifying final between the Brisbane Lions and Richmond.

For key forward Josh Bruce, his first taste of finals football is set to come against his former side, after nine years in the AFL system.

The Bulldogs and Saints haven’t met in a final for 10 years.

Back-to-back preliminary finals between the two sides occurred in 2009 and 2010, with the Saints edging past the Bulldogs on both occasions.

Tickets will go on-sale next Tuesday, September 29 via Ticketmaster for the Western Bulldogs’ elimination final at The Gabba. Tickets will be made available to club members prior to going on-sale to the general public.

Remaining tickets not sold during the member priority period will be made available to the general public to purchase.

Based on state border restrictions as of 24 hours prior to the ticket on-sale, only members who reside in states with open borders to Queensland, or who reside in Queensland, will be eligible to purchase tickets.

Eligible members will be communicated to via email later this week, with relevant information (pricing, barcode, on-sale time).

Deflating. Badly wanted AO for both selfish reasons and because it’s what the Saints didn’t want.

From a purely crowd/spectacle, you’d think the neutral relatively footy starved South Australians would likely be more likely also fill every available seat.

I was surprised how few people there were at the hawks game - I think I heard around 4000? It was a nice day, would have expected more to turn up. I wonder how many neutrals would be keen in SA or Queensland at finals ticket prices?

Edit: Apparently only 2625

A Saturday 4pm final is a far, far more attractive proposition than a 3pm Sunday slot. Selling out might be a tad optimistic, but a final in a footy state that has had minimum chips games versus Qld (who have had a saturation) would surely get a bigger crowd.

Do we know what the capacity will be for the first final? I know they are hoping for 30,000 for the grand final but I don't think they will allow that many yet. Looks like Brisbane have been getting up around 15,000 so I'm guessing 15,000-20,000?

I would be amazed if any members that wanted to go couldn't get tickets. I doubt we have a significant number of Queensland members (plus other state members allowed and willing to travel). If there are 20,000 allowed it probably won't even sell out anyway.

I’d like to think we are in a totally different space than round 2. I’d also say that all of the teams on this list have fluctuated pretty heavily over the course of the season and it’s been about when you’ve played them.

WC for example have gone from awful, to invincible, to flakey.

Firstly, hopefully the pendulum has swung the right way at the moment for us. Secondly, hopefully the other games are tight and the other team belt suitcases out of each other.

I think the Eagles will get a hold the Pies over there, but the other games are shaping up as genuine 50/50s.

Wouldn't surprise me at all to see Port fall over tonight, though I was pretty impressed with how they absorbed pressure in their last round game against Collingwood. Power just.

I think Richmond will just be too good and will get the job done.

Us...well I'm hoping our big boys in the middle put the foot down on the throats of the inexperienced Saints and we ambush them in the first quarter.

Subject to any match committee master-strokes we're better equipped to the tune of Hunter, Wood, Cordy & Duryea in place of Gowers, Dale, Lloyd & Suckling last time we played this mob.

That alone helps allay some nervousness.

I've been having this argument with my mates who think it was an exceptional goal. An uncontested mark was dropped and fell into Danger's arms, then he used a burst of speed to break clear before executing basic skills of an AFL footballer. The burst of speed was legitimately the only moderately interesting part of the goal.

I'm so glad it wasn't the catalyst for a comeback, so I will hopefully not have to see it again.

I don't like danger, I don't think it was necessarily a 'great' goal in terms of difficulty....but to see a player get the footy and sprint away from three opposition players, bouncing the footy, from the middle of the ground to the goal - it was brilliant.

Not as good as Matt Boyd's goal against Richmond. But still awesome to watch.

Scott is the luckiest premiership coach since Charlie Clymo in 1931. He's basically a Geelong supporter who's allowed to sit in the coaches box. Reactionary but slow to react and never proactive. This is surely his last year if they don't win the flag?

Especially hilarious considering they got a fifty from a player diving that ultimately resulted in field position and a subsequent goal, and numerous times I saw their player lunch forward to try and milk on.

Cannot believe how it exciting it was when either side got the ball in that last quarter and looked to go forward. There was this air of expectation and danger that whichever side going forward was going to score, a feeling I don't think is present when we get the ball in the same scenario.

The thing about the saints list (king excluded) is I don’t think it’s got a huge improvement ahead of it.
Saints have a thin midfield. Steele has been outstanding but there's not much to back him up. Brad Hill has been dreadful for such a big name recruit - if it wasn't for Josh Bruce, he'd be the most disappointing recruit of 2020.

They are into Tim Taranto and they definitely need that sort of quality to add to their midfield. They do have an excellent coach.

It was a douche move but the best teams play on the edge. We certainly did in 2016. It's not a pre-season scratch match.

That is not on the edge, that is a coward act.

A real coward would have actually made forceful impact. Lynch has graduated from coward to dickhead/ douche. Or not graduated, just merely started and stagnated at douche level.

I wouldn't like 100kg sitting on my head - no hurry to get off and then a little knee as well to top it off.

Imagine if Carlton didn't have the likes of Kernahan shitting all over the place with his "this is how we did things in the 80's" mentality and Ratten was allowed to coach that group of players.

What was wrong with the Cotchin tackle? It was late and high but is he not supposed to crash in and hurt Jones if he can? Would you prefer he gives him a gentle cuddle so he can get rid of the ball and go coast to coast like Jack Steele was allowed to do last week?

I think BAD was posting just for the Lynch incident.

Look, I wasn't a very good footballer relative to the likes of these guys and you know what, sometimes I was lazy etc. But, hurting opposition players fairly within the rules was something that I always thought was a priority. Tackle hard, bump hard, and grab the ball and run all over players hard. Do that better than your opposition and you're more likely to dominate them.

Exactly. If you can crunch an opponent in a tackle or smash them in a marking contest, you do your best to hurt them. I don't think Clay Smith, Matty Boyd, Morris or Picko ever missed the chance to really hurt an opponent legally in contested situations.

The way Lynch attacked that marking contest in the 1st qtr set the tone for the night and knocked Paton into next week - Paton was a complete non-contributor thereafter. Ditto Zak Jones after the Cotchin tackle.

They are playing for keeps.

We would’ve beaten Richmond tonight.

In what universe? Tigers would’ve been 5 goals up at quarter time and game over.

Their pressure in the first would’ve turned us to water.

Nothing wrong with tackling hard (except sling), bump hard etc, all part of the game. But doing stupid things like Lynch did is not a good look.

To me, a coward's act is hitting from behind, or attacking someone who is lying on their back with no chance to defend. You want to do something like that, let the bloke up and let's see how tough you are.

BTW: Channel 7 were so irresponsible focussing the camera on the Saints player with blood covering his head. There are kids watching the game and again not a good look for the game.

How I carried on?

I carried on about Redpath getting two weeks, then another on appeal for a nothing push at Davis. They were face to face. Completely different.

If you are talking about the video you posted, well that was not on and they got their just desserts, so I am not sure what your point is?

BTW, a guy named D Mitchell was asking after you on BF with your BF name. Initially I told him that you had been arrested in Bangkok many years ago, and was posting on WOOF from your prison cell.

He took that a bit seriously, so I told him that was fake news and that you were in fact in North Korea and was #2 in the regime. I think he was a poster on here at some time, and told him you were now TwoDogs here, or whatever that is in Korean.

Actually I have done all that. Many moons ago in a more delinquent time.

I actually ran into the police man that arrested me at a job a few years ago. I asked if he remembered me and he said "should I?" And I said "no".

But admitting you're wrong online is like the foulest tasting humble pie.

Good thinking.

I had a home invasion not long ago. No damage done and it turned out he was a nutter so I didn't press charges.

But a few weeks later, I ran into him at my local Aldi.

He didn't recognise me, but it was rather awkward.
