Looking forward to the start of footy.
The Girls are going into their 4th season and it will be good to see the improvements in game style and skills as the pathway for some of the younger ones has been more footy orientated than purely coming from other codes.
Go Dogs...

This is the fifth season of AFLW, although the fourth was slightly truncated. It's amazing that in four seasons our H&A record stands at a disappointing 10 wins, 17 losses, yet we won a flag. The same number of wins in 2018 as 17,19 and 20 combined! There has only been 1 good year but they made it count.

We built a really strong squad to win that flag which was recognised by the incoming teams, and most of our old heads were whisked away. If the new teams hadn't come in I think our W/L percentage would have been a lot better over the past few years.

Conti, Kearney and Bruton are in the top handful of midfielders in the league. Birch is an AA defender. Brennan would have likely been a loss for training standards. O'Connor and Ernst were experienced talls.

We've done well to convert all of that into so many early draft picks. Hopefully we don't get raided again with the next expansion!!

Should be some cracking games in there.

North v Collingwood at Marvel should get a good crowd, if allowed. North coming off a loss despite being one of the more highly fancied teams. Are they front runners, or did they just get done by a very good Melbourne side?

The undefeated Lions take on the Crows, also coming off an unexpected and disappointing loss. Two teams who have been around the mark every year. The Crows missed skipper Chelsea Randall with concussion, but she should be back. It should be a very competitive game!

Finally our matchup with the Demons is very interesting. It is a strong rivalry as the two 'foundation' clubs of women's football, but we have a 1-3 record against them (albeit a very important one win in 2021). We have started the season well but the demons system and skill will be too much for us IMO. Hopefully it is a high scoring, fast flowing game.

Bugger it. Our Friday night streak has been broken.

It also however gives the greatest time for restrictions to be lifted in Vic so that a crowd can come. Good chance that Friday won't be allowed a crowd, Sunday may be just far enough away to be ok.

And I couldn't recommend it any higher to anyone who is not sure about it.

$10 tickets. Cans available. Sit on the hill and roar as our girls run around at our home ground!
