OK......now we can put the AT vs. Collingwood stuff behind us, right?

It wasn't perfect but it was still an excellent start to the season. I think some of the media coverage has been a bit off colour this week, focusing too much on the fact we haven't perfected scoring and cohesion in the forward line.

Duh.....it's only round one and our forwards including English have only had a couple of outings against actual competition to gel. Our new ruck set-up seemed to work (credit where it's due, the media have picked up on this), we kept a middling side to only seven goals, and we dominated the game albeit without kicking a more optimal score.

All of this stuff suggesting we can't win a flag until we get absolutely perfect at round one is silly. Nobody rated us and our dysfunctional at times whole ground set up in 2016 yet we still found a way to do it. I'm not saying we'll do that again, rather, I'm saying that round one is a silly time to start pontificating about prospects with any level of conviction.

Let's enjoy the ride. Footy's back, we can get to games, and life is a shit tonne better now than it was this time last year.

Agree completely w your comments Jeemak - particularly that the Treloar v Pies stuff ends now. Onwards and upwards. One week at a time. Boys gave 110%.

Interesting that Bevo said this is that our EF team was the strongest team we've ever put out for a final, including 2016. I mean, I guess on paper he's probably right...I'd not really thought about it.

Like you exactly. Bevo is right.

The interesting thing is that they are both make-shift to an extent. 2016 more so. Hence his comment.

It has a feeling that it's us against the world at present and the team are buying in. When you consider the travel, no match practice for vfl players, hotel conditions (we look like we are at a big 4 holiday park compared to GWS) and the fact we have had the media at our throats it’s a decent lever to pull.

It is a balance between motivation and giving them an out by focusing on the disadvantages though. Don’t want to have a victim mentality but we have had it very rough comparatively.
