View Full Version : Is the club 'punking us' by sending us 'How to Book tickets' messages?

OK.

So - I get it - they have to send these out...but why send out a bazillion text messages (in my business, these aren't free to send) to people who cannot possibly use them.

If there is a game in Perth in a few weeks - sure - send me the messages. But I can't go to South Australian. Well - I can I guess, as long as I am prepared to potentially quarantine when I come back (I don't know if you know this, but the WA premier is apt to close borders and introduce quarantines at a moments notice)...but I will still (just as I did last week) receive 5x SMS messages re- ticket purchase (one for each membership).

Surely there is a way we could opt in/out of these right now to keep costs down? Plus, it genuinely feels like they are tweaking me sending me links to games that I once could have and probably WOULD have attended but now simply cant.

I haven't received any text messages. Are you receiving them simply because if you aren't in Vic or NSW it is at least theoretically possible to attend the games?

I think that's it. I've been getting them all finals series.

Yeah no texts here - tipping they're going to the non-east coasters.

Hahaha....when I posted I did think to myself "I shouldn't say east coast....there'll be someone from Brisbane getting them!"....and the good thing has lobbed.

I should have just said Vic and NSW! The COVID states!

Thread should be "Is MJP Punking Us" given the majority of us are in Melbourne!

You want extra weird? My wife got a text with her membership barcode, despite never actually having been a member.

I assumed I may have used her details when signing up my daughters extra membership (she has been a SC member since birth but gets an extra one through Auskick). But the two codes they sent me for my daughter both worked, so it couldn’t have been that.

The extra phantom code meant we got an extra ticket. ?¿

I'm on the way. I'm going to get in the boot and pay someone to drive me through the border check.

Make sure they have a permit, so they won't be checked. If you know anyone at one of the trucking companies, that would be ideal

I'm a required worker but I don't get shifts in SA. But I do have an exemption certificate. I'm not sure I'd have it much longer if I used it for that though.

I bought 4 tickets so family in Adelaide can attend. Dogs kit on as a prerequisite.

Also didn’t get a text about it, however AFL Gold Member with Club support.

I’d be annoyed if I didn’t get a text to a match I can potentially go to! Exhibit a: the grand final. If the club didn’t send a text to people in sa who can currently fly to and from WA I would be livid

And that's fair enough T&T but why not set up a simple opt in/opt out process to save literally '000's in message fees? I get 5x messages (which I get cos each one has a code etc) but it's a lot...

Yes, you probably could. Not sure how it works though.

Yes, you probably could. Not sure how it works though.

The first part is winning our way in. Once that happens, the club will receive an allocation of 'x' tix (in theory - that's what happened in 2016) and depending on your membership level etc you get access to them.

As someone who pays the social club excess to 'ensure' I get tix to a gf (even though the fine print now says that even this doesn't 'guarantee' a ticket) I am assuming I will get a 'window' to buy tickets and enter barcodes...

Back to DtS's question - if you have the barcodes of the memberships with eligibility, then in theory you will be able to access the allocation that generous individual would have otherwise had access too...

I am not sure exactly how big our (Club) allocation is going to be in the event we are successful this weekend BUT I know a number of people who have already secured seats...so I guess it is pre-determined already??? Regardless, you have to know it is going to be another TM shamozzle trying to get it all sorted out.
