Brisbanes forwards seem to have a harder edge than previous years.

Their defence during the year has improved out of sight.

If I was a nark I?d requote myself from a few weeks earlier picking Brisbane as my flag tip.

Win lose or draw tonight I still reckon they will be there on the last Saturday.

The football Gods are with Carlton. They can?t do any wrong at the moment. Even when they lose their nerve in the last two weeks, they get an umpire decision go there way last week and Gold Coast had every chance to steal that game and could not take their chance.

They are winning the close games. That?s the last two under a goal.

They are the anti Bulldogs. Taking their chances.

Just finished watching the Carlton game on delay. Felt like the bad guy killed the good guy and there was no happy ending. It?s also robbed us of the drama of them needing to beat a hot GWS next week to make finals.

Was super mad, but turning over to the Essendon game live to see them 45-6 down at quarter time brought back the sunshine a little haha

Look at the players reaction. You know when you have a shot if it hits the post or even it is really close and you don't know. The players on the field thought it was a goal. That is a reasonable sign.

Also, watch the footage. The goal umpire has to scramble, he has players in his line of vision.

Also. Check out this fan footage from behind the goals. There is daylight between the posts and the ball. This mobile phone footage is a better angle and clearer than the official footage! https://twitter.com/BigD1477/status/1692909489157214276?s=20

Yep. Compare it to Taranto last year. Look he played in a GF after we knocked back Pick 8, so it nearly worked. But they’re set up to hand us way unders. But that’s the decision we made two years ago and I guess we knew this could happen. Still sucks to be us when we handed over the pick for Charlie Curnow to get Dunkley & Dad Collins. And end up with 21 and 17/18 which will blow out to maybe 23/24 after matched bids. Hence, why we really need to trade them up.

Hopefully Clarke makes the grade for some silver lining.

There have been many umpire errors over the years before technology- it happens

mjp
20-08-2023, 02:05 PM
I don't know if it was a goal or a point.

And - as my missus tells me, I am the first person to say: "The umpire is RIGHT THERE. Why does this need a review...".

But I wish they reviewed it. The 'moment' (late goal to win) is what cost Adelaide - they were celebrating and unable to defend the kick in...I didn't think that was very fair. Whether it hit the post or not, the players were clearly not aware of it and given the circumstances it didn't seem reasonable for Adelaide to be penalised because the outcome to the shot on goal was different to what they had assumed.

Should they have paid attention? I guess...but the MOMENT got to them...I didn't like it.
