The first game against the Swans is very close now so I thought it might be an idea to see what others think the team will line-up will be?

This is my suggested team

B:---Gilbee---Harris---Morris
HB--Griffen---Wight---McMahon
C:---Boyd----West----Ray
HF--Power--McDougall--Akermanis
F:---Higgins---Johnson--Montgomery
R:---Minson---Cross---Giansiracusa

Int:-Skipper-Pask-Faulkner-Addison-Hughes-McCormack
(Harbrow is a chance as well if Hughes isn't fit)

I think this line-up is a good blend of youth and experience but really there isn't many more players available. I'm told Eagleton is close and is a chance to play. Perhaps Baird is also fit enough.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Either of Lynch of Hill would be fun to watch. I was very impressed with both yesterday.

How does the suspension effect Harris?

No problems for the NAB as far as I am aware. Misses 2 H&A games though

Is the first question whose available for us?

Given our injuries, I assume all AFL ready but marginal players will be in the mix eg D-Mac, Faulkner and Pask.

Second question is what sort of structure the Swans will field?

Presume Swans will have LRT, Spida amd Micky O out?

IIRC the first 2 are injured, and Micky O has buggered knees and IIRC doesn't play much pre-season.

Third question is with new rules, is it worth stretching their short backline? Barry may be less effective.

Teddy Richards did well - booted 5 goals. Played well in the GF too.

Wight on Richards would be a good match-up for us from my perspective.

Who takes O'Keefe and Goodes? Presume Harris will get Hall.

Griffen on O'Keefe would be a ripper encounter and Morris on Goodes would be a speedsters delight.

I reckon this is a pretty good looking team. It offers plenty of flexibility.

I'd like to see Griff to the centre; Monty/Addison/Power to HBF; Gia to HFF; West to Rover;
Jonno and Doogs to swap; and so on.
This team can beat the Swans!!:)

Given who is unavailable, that's still a handy team.

Wonder if Pask will get a run? Isn't Morris injured?

As you can tell, I'm more for giving the younger/less experienced players a chance to impress rather than sticking in an experienced side. I'm not a fan of the NAB Cup, I think it encourages a side to peak too early. So I hope we don't go too far. However; I think it's a great opportunity for Addison, D-Mac, Doogs, Higgins, Pask, Faulkner, Baird, Lynch, Harbrow, Hill & Skipper - to show something. Ditto for Griffen, playing out of the centre.

IMO, we'll get much more out of it by playing the above rather than sticking in Johnson, West, Grant etc.

We KNOW what they can do. Shift a little responsibility over to some of the kids, and see how they handle it. Never know; somebody like Lynch might jump out of the hat, or perhaps Addison etc.
