View Full Version : How will you get your finals tickets?

Just curious. I still like the tradition of lobbing somewhere early in the morning to queue up.

In 2006 it was the Werribbe Plaza newsagency & it was packed. I imagine it would be much the same this year as there are 6 Victorian teams in the finals. It's nice just chatting with other fans, some who barrack for your team & others who don't.

I think I'd be worried if I did it online that the system would crash. Has anyone experienced problems getting their finals tickets online?

LostDoggy

I was thinking of getting them at a ticketmaster close to work..

But if you have finals priority with your membership you can get it through the club.

So i will be just calling 1300GODOGS and getting them off an operator..

Not sure for the first final. I will be on my way to QLD for a conference on Monday morning so I might have get someone to get them for me.

However there was word in the box on Friday night that we might have one for the first final which wouldn't be too bad at all.;)

Not sure exactly how i'm getting my ticket, but I know i'll probably be making Dad pay for it! I'm such a lovely daughter.

Pretty sure he'll just get them online. Or I will, he can't work technology too well, haha.

Yeah I remember against Collingwood I had a bit of trouble getting them. I think it took a couple of hours to get into the system. As Alexxx said I'll be ringing 1300GODOGS while hitting refresh on my browser just in case.

Funny you mention this TCD. I actually went on to the ticketmaster website this morning to print off the list of their outlets.

In 2006, I went to the newsagent in Collins Place, got their about 6.00am, the guy gave out raffle ticket numbers, and you just had to make sure you were back at 8.30am to get your spot in the queue. It worked well, I went and got some breakfast, read all the stories in the papers about how Collingwod were going to pump us, and then went back to buy the tickets. But this newagency is no longer a ticketmaster outlet.

I buy all of my tickets during the H&A season online, but the ticketmaster online system seems to die in the arse when there is a big rush for tickets, and with 6 melbourne teams in the finals, and all tickets going on sale at the one time, that may happen again.

My other problem is I have to buy 13 tickets, so I have to do it in 2 transcations and hope that the tickets are close to each other.

Does any one have any suggestions as to where to buy tickets, where you won't have to be there at midnight to get a decent spot in the queue.

I have my doubts how that will work.

The club is not really seat up as a call centre, and I fear that the only thing I will get on the phone, are the beeps of an engaged signal.

I also had premium seats for that in the Southern Stand behind the goals. They were great seats too, although all seats were great that day.

Olympic stand is fine, but behind the goals, for me sucks. My mate wants to get MCC passes, but I think I would have to make sure I get there early to get a decent seat.

In 2006 we were in the MCC area but up the back.......top tier, but then again.......... playing Collingwood in front of 84,284 fans, what do you expect.

I went online at 9am that Monday morning and the site froze/crashed - took me about half an hour to finally get the tickets, and I was thinking 'great, I'll be at the top of the Southern - so standing room for me' (I don't do the top deck of most stands)

To my surprise and delight, I still scored seats on the 50 in the Southern 5 rows back from the fence, and all amongst fellow hounds - my guess is it recognises the bar code as Dogs membership and seats you accordingly.

Needless to say, was a brilliant day

I was going to do that, but with supporters of Geel, Coll etc there as well I have decided to go to the Whitten Oval.

At the Plaza you queue up at the Rabbit Photo entrance, then at about 8am the doors open where you stay in the queue but move to the newsagents.

I did that last time & it just took forever & I got there early too.

Just booked my flights over, and double booked! Luckily got onto the folk at Qanats before they deducted the extra money from my account, otherwise it might have been hitch hiking from the airport.

Arriving 1.55 on Friday...and scored free accommodation in South Bank for the night. Stoked.

Bringing a mate from Canada whose out studying here in Townsville. He hasn't seen a game of AFL yet.

My nana lined up for us on Monday morning...took her 3 hours and she has a walker, so the people behind and ahead of her said for her to go to the side and sit down and then go back to the line when they got to the front..so that was nice, but we had no idea it would take so long. We got seats in section M28, row MM.

We are M28 row F or thereabouts.

I know it wouldn't keep you away :) There are some members of my family who think that it is stupid that I want to go, considering my current health state.

I don't think that would bother Superfan - she herself can be quite loud....

Well today I scored a corporate box ticket. Have a mate at Emirates (Geelong supporter) with 2 tickets, full spread in the restaurant beforehand, guest speaker, snacks and alcohol all night with our own waitress, free. Only problem is I have to blow off my family who arranged tickets for me first thing on Monday morning and I have to wear a suit which I bought when I was 90kg (over 100kg now). Family should understand. Never done this before has anyone else? Should be an interesting and different experience. I'm assuming I will be the only Dog in the box so to speak, two Age writers, two Emirates and two others.

I haveat Telstra Dome one night. The foods good but the other people are plastic and pretentious and the atmoshpere is not condusive to watching football.

The only thing I liked about it was I was able to see the countdown clock in the coaches box but halfway through the second quarter Rocket thumped the desk and everything fell off. When they replaced it all I couldnt see the clock any more. I 'went to the toilet' at half time and went and stood with my mates on L1 for the rest of the game.

I went to a Doggies/Hawks game in a box last year..

Twodogs is right, its not the greatest atmosphere and if your a passionate supporter u'll find yourself sitting up front watching the game most the time while everyone else is standing around drinking/eating/chatting..

So if your looking for a fun time - sure. But if your looking to follow the game closely its not the best option..

But free is FREE. And we know Free is the best word in the world.

(This doesnt mean i didnt get drunk and enjoy myself - and dogs won) :)

I only enjoy a corporate box when the doggies aren't playing.

Had my finals ticket in M8, but have broken the fibula in my left leg so can't go. I'm devastated!
Doggies had better win tonight so I can get there somehow for a Prelim and Grand Final!

Hope the Bulldogs can cheer you up with a big win tonight.

Sorry to hear that Mo.

I hope the Dogs can win tonight. That will help ease the pain.
