Indeed - still got a fair bit of improvement left in him as well.

(I'm also pretty gruntled about the $1 each way I put on him at 101 before the season started.)

Great stuff Cooney. I thought he wouldn't get any votes towards the end of the season, but he pinched a couple against Brisbane, which surprised me.

Well Done, what a star.

Upon annointing the winner, anyone else notice Quartermain state Cooney was the first Bulldog Brownlow winner since Scott Wynd in 1993?...Pffft.

Onya Coondawg.

Perhaps a little fortunate I would have thought but not undeserving in the slightest...Enjoyed a career year.

The Brownlow factory's open for business again!

I'm thinking Selwood (polled amazingly well this year and should continue to improve) or Griff for next year.

Goodes is an absolute umpires pet. Had him finishing on 15 in my count and thats taking into acount his pet-iness. Crazy.

Well done Coons. I thought at about Rnd 15 he was going to come up 1 BOG short, but I am very happy that he managed to get up.

I'll be over to the TAB at lunch time to pick up my $1,010. I placed the bet on 18th December.

Congratulations Adam - I feel asleep before it was all over assuming Hahn would get BOG in Round 21 - the vagaries of the Brownlow huh?

This could be a massive positive for the club - really looking forward to 09

I sat bolt upright in bed, waking my partner up, after the rd 21 results almost in disbelief that he was ahead. Then could barely keep it together waiting for Ablett to get 3 and beat him out.
Despite the Brownlow being almost a lottery and in my opinion Ablett being the standout of the year, I couldn't be prouder of the Coon Dog. His first 2/3 of the year were exceptional and his performance in the game against Brisbane at the MCG is probably my favourite of the year. Well done Adam.
Now for a Norm Smith in 09;)

Adam Cooney you superstar...

Just imagine how more heavily tagged he will be next year ;)

I picked up a handy $300 for a $20 bet back in April so im happy with that..

But to be the best player ahead of Richo, Harvey, Bartel, Ablett...Absolutely awesome.

I'll say it again..

Adam Cooney You Superstar.

And the best is yet to come :)

Well done.

Well done to Cooney, he had an unbelievable year. Can you imagine if Black had won it? He didn't get AA, and yet finished 2nd in the Brownlow. It doesn't make sense (should have been AA is what I'm saying).

Also congratulations to Dale Morris for getting his first vote, I thought that was going to be the highlight of the night, but I think Cooney scraped in with that title.

Talk about a heart stopper bloody hell.

I thought Black had it done and dusted by about round 15. Then Richo started comming into the frame so i jump ship to him, and then by about round 20 i thought to myself, shit Cooney is a shot here.

But when they had the Doggies game votes up first me and my old man though shit. They normally leave the cliff hangers to last. Then when the Cats game came up, i though Ablett was going to pip him, and didnt.

Its absolutely fantastic for him and the club.

That was actually Mike Fitzpatrick, not Quaterbrain.

Not that it excuses Quarterbrain from his ridiculous question to Cooney in regard to his partner's child. Thankfully it was well handled by Cooney.

Fitzpatrick forgot about the toast as well. Demetriou didn't know round 1 from round 2. These incompetent fools run the competition

I was almost asleep as well, i didnt want to hear Ablett or Richo or Black speak up on stage, even tho there all great players, but it all got to me, and i jumped up and screamed and jumped some more, then realised they hadnt done the Richmond game, then when it was all over and they called out Joel Bowdens name i screamed like ive never screamed before, and kept jumping up and down, i would have looked like a looney, luckily i was home alone so noone saw it.

I was jsut so happy for Adam, still am very excited, didnt get much sleep last night, but hey it was worth it.

I LOVE YOU ADAM COONEY.
