HEARD the one about the dog owner who looks like his dog?
While that may be the case with Steve Simonic and his bulldog Butch, that’s where the similarities end.
Steve works in body corporate while Butch is on the way to being crowned Australian Pet Fashion Week’s numero uno.
The catwalking dog from Williams Landing could win a modelling contract by pooch clothing giant Doggone Gorgeous.
“I think the contract could go to his head,” laughed Steve.
“We might need to get him one of those gold teeth with a diamond in it.”
To win the competition, Butch has to receive the most votes at the fashion week website. Steve is spreading the word to family and friends while partner Christina is busy making posters.
“It all started at the PETstock in Old Geelong Rd, Hoppers Crossing where the heat was held,” Steve said.
“It was about looks more than anything. You had to walk him on a red carpet catwalk thing.
“We were worried he wouldn’t walk on that because he does what he wants to do but he did the turn just perfectly.”
Dressed in a Western Bulldogs t-shirt and cap, as well as sunglasses, Butch stole the show and walked away with a medal and 15kg of dog food.
Steve, who is from Williamstown, said he had wanted a bulldog since he was four years old. Eight months ago his wish was granted and to boot - the dog even looks like him.
“The judge who helped Butch win said they look the same and that sometimes dogs look like their owners,” Christina said.
“They do look alike a little bit ... they are both good looking and masculine and both love people.”

This could be some great PR for the Western Bulldogs if we can get this mut up!
