Not great news as Gia's form has been very good, but I guess someone else will get a chance to play a few games and press their claims.

Hope he has a speedy recovery and he is back for atleast a couple of games before the finals.

Mark Stevens generally receives good information when reporting on the Bulldogs.

yeah i know thats why I said hopefully off with the prediction and not just flat out wrong like the "Doc".

Yesterday he said Gilbee to miss 2 before the game started and then said Gia was on the way to the hospital for scans on his ankle.

A big loss, our no 1 assist player.

Gia didnt join the quarter time huddle against North and was doing some running and kicking drills under the Docs watchful eye

Got to respect the guy for playing on the whole game and being our leading goal kicker

Agree better out now than in the finals

Disappointed with that news been good this season. Now it's time for some banging down the door to get a gig to step up!

Big loss, at first glance you'd want a similar type of player to replace him. But I'd have Reid replace him.
Big body for this week, hawks will be desperate.

This is a big big loss (no really) but as i have stated in another forum i would bring in O'Keefe for the six weeks and see if he can step up or Everitt possibly both are capable of filling in while Gia recovers!!

Very disappointing... just when we're looking OK on the injury front...

Needle worked very well on Sunday.
Massive, massive loss if accurately reported.
Gia is the cream on the cake.

Huge loss.

I was only speaking so highly of him yesterday after he was taken down to the rooms. He works very, very hard and is deadly moving across half forward. Knows when and where to lead, kicks goals and is obviously leading goal assists.

Hopefully he's able to make a quick recovery because he's vital to our Premiership aspirations.

I wonder who will get promoted?

I saw him eating scrambled eggs this morning at le chien. He looked ok! But he was sitting down.

Did he give you a sly nod ala Fight Club, now that he knows about the BHBAS?

Murphy moves back to the Forward lineto cover Gias loss, and bring in to the back line .......the Skip.

Who do you mean with that one - Johnson (the skipper) or Wayde Skipper?

I don't think either of those options will be looked at.

Such a big loss. Hopefully he gets back soon and can play some good footy before the finals.

Do we replace him with a similar player aka O'keefe or should we bring back Williams and shift Murphy forward? I'm fairly certain Murphy was leading our assists last year and could fill the role of Gia without the midfield rotations. With the team down on efficiency yesterday I wouldn't really look at bringing in Reid as a replacement.

Gia to miss six weeks

8:20 PM Mon 29 June, 2009

DANGEROUS Western Bulldogs forward Daniel Giansiracusa had an arthroscope on his knee on Monday and will miss the next six weeks of football.

Giansiracusa injured his knee against North Melbourne on Sunday, being helped from the ground 11 minutes into the first quarter, but he was able to return to kick two crucial goals in the final quarter.

The Bulldogs said the arthroscope was just to clean up some loose material in the knee and would expect Giansiracusa to make a full recovery.

After Sunday’s match Giansiracusa said his knee “locked and wouldn’t go back to normal.”

“The docs worked some magic underneath and it came good, so it was good I was able to contribute in the end because it didn't look like I was going to do much at the start of the day."

The 27-year-old forward suffered an ACL scare in the same leg in late 2007 but after the match Giansiracusa said that he believed it was unrelated.

Bad news even if its' not as bad as it sounds, not just because Gia was so mature and influential yesterday when it counted and his absence takes a cog out of the mid field/forward machine, but because Gilbee looks like he needs a rest, and now might not get it.

In trying to find a positive I suppose it gives someone else a chance to show what they can do.

Funny, when Twodogs sends an SMS it must go to 35 people all at the same time! ;)

Did you get the one about the desiccated coconut and the talcum powder? Or the one about the morbidly obese chicken?

Unlike TwoDogs to send through some old news.

Next thing you know he will be sending a message letting you know that Michael Jackson is dead.

Bad luck for Gia, been playing some very good football the last few weeks. Perhaps opens the door for the likes of Reid, Stack and O'Keefe to come into the side. (Or perhaps assures Ward and Picken a place should Williams be right to come back).

Now with him, Pav, Cox and Chad out, I'm stuffed in SC!
