Just thought I would post a few of our stats lists for areas that are talked about alot on here. I will post more of them later but they are a pain in the arse to format so you will have to make do with my crap computer skills. All are based on playing a minimum of 2 games this year and are from pro stats. If anyone has any specific requests just ask and I will try and put them up. Also remember that stats are not the be all and end all in footy and are merely a guide.

Thanks for this dt - was wondering awhile ago how you were able to find things off pro-stats that I couldn't see there.

Other stats of interest that come to mind are goal-assists and spoils, as well as contested possessions/marks, uncontested possessions/marks, long and short kicks, hard and loose-ball gets, 1%ers, and disposal efficiency. Are there stats for shepards or are these just clumped under 1%ers?

I know this will take time and am happy for you to select which you think are most important or reveal most about what's happening.

Interesting that we had our leading ball-bouncers out against the Swans.

One reason why we had no run and carry last week.

They made it subscription only this year for some reason.

Interesting that we had our leading ball-bouncers out against the Swans. They have taken out things like spoils (still under 1%ers) and goal assists. They still have everything else plus one or two new ones like first possesion which is the first person t gather the ball after a hit out. Shepherds are still under 1%ers. I will try and put them all up at some stage this week I am just not very efficient at it.

Well picked up RT and Ernie regarding Mcmahon and Griffen and the bounces per game. Pretty much the reason I included them but its no excuse for the rest of the team to stop running.

I have done a couple more but will do the rest at some stage. Just keep in mind that 1%ers take into account spoils, knock ons, shepherds and that sort of thing. Defenders are usually right up in that stat. Big Brian Harris is actualy leading the league in this stat.

One of the most important stats for centre players is clearances. Whilst the stats dont give the quality of the clearances how do our centre players stack up against others in the comp?

I think that we would be pretty poor. West and Cross probably spend a lot of time on the ball with Cooney and Boyd less-so.

I imagine that West would have a low relative clearance rate and Cross even lower. Cross' clearances would be relatively poor quality. Ie a quick hand-ball to somebody in just as bad a position compared with for example Judd who would run away with the ball and cut them up.

Cooney would probably have our best clearance rate per time on the ball and his clearances would be good quality.

Do you have any stats on that?

DT,

Got the equivalent tackle stats for the Swans and the Crows?

Only two players average more than one tackle per quarter - that seems pretty pissweak to me.

Going to put everything up tommorow as I have footy today. I can get them for you though.

JC I will have a look but I dont think they have anything on quality of clearances. One thing that is strange is that in a number of games when I have looked at it we have had more first possessions than the opposition but lost the clearances by a fair way. So we are getting our hands on the ball first but not ending up with the clearance. To me that smells of a problem with the way we are setting up.

Half way mark of the season so I thought it might be a good time to see where we are at as a team in terms of statistics. Have not put them all in particulalry the team to opponent ratios but I can put anything up that is requested. Alot of our stats are a bit strange because of our uncontested style.

We are currently...

7th in tackles (melbourne, north, collingwood, brisbane, carlton and sydney in front of us)

4th in goals scored

5th in hit outs

10th in contested marks (would be much lower without Harris and Johnson)

7th for first possesions

7th in clearances (in order sydney, geelong, north, port, west coast, carlton)

9th for inside 50s

2nd for rebound 50s

16th for contested possessions (only 2 teams above us on the ladder that are also in the bottom 8 for this stat and they are collingwood and essendon who are 9th and 12th respectively. All the other top 8 sides are in the top 8 for this stat. Actually been pretty good in this area over the last month breaking even most games.)

7th for uncontested possesions

14th for long kicks

7th for 1%ers

14th for errors

2nd for running bounces

2nd in least opponent tackles per game

5th in least opponent rebound 50s per game

2nd in team to opponent tackles per game difference

15th in team to opponent clearances per game difference

14th in team to opponent contested possessions per game difference

13th in team to opponent inside 50s per game difference

14th for errors
Is that the good end or the bad end?
Do you make a lot of errors 3rd most? or Do we make less errors 3rd best?
