A variation on the best 22 threads, inspired from another unnamed site.

What is the best 22 you've seen, consisting of players that did not win a B&F?
My effort:

B: Hargrave ... R. Kennedy ... Kretiuk
HB: Wallis ... Southern ... Gilbee
C: Eagleton ... Atkins ... Kellett
HF: S.MacPherson ... Croft ... Bob Murphy
F: Kolyniuk ... Beasley ... Nafan Brown
Foll: Hudson ... Bubba Smith ... Cooney
Bench: Coleman, Griff, Gia, Morris

Comments:

We have a list of great HBs that could almost fill a team themselves.
Our gun midfielders tend to win B&Fs
Aker won a Brissie B&F in 99 so was excluded
Crofty could play either end, flirted with Bazza Stanfield or Galaxy as a CHF (needed a back-up ruck so moved Galaxy to the bench)
Brown will probably upset a few, but he was a gun A/A player
I've probably missed a few too.

I thought Paul Hudson was a pretty brilliant player for us. I'd have him just edging out Kolyniuk or even Kellett with Gia thrown onto the wing.

Good thread though.

Hudon, yep he was excellent for us. Given a few comments I'll probably want to edit the team when a few more names are thrown up. Originally I forgot about Gia and at one point had Keenan Reyolds as a sneaky on the bench.

Brad Murphy made an awfully big impression on you. ;)

S. Wallis

On the bench TD?

I would probably have him as captain of this side,

Surely he'd start on a wing before Kellett, or push Southern to CHB and Wallis onto the half back line

Rohan Smith as an emergency surprises me! He was one of the best Bulldogs ever! Gilbee has a long way to go to match Bubba, Danny Southern was average and Nigel Kellett played in some awful sides and was just a battler.

Dale Morris as emergency, I also disagree with. He has been a phenomenal defender - in teh best 2 or 3 I've seen for sure.

Not until he went to play at South Melbourne. I didn't include any player to win a B&F before they joined the club.

Team balance BR. I wanted Ted Whitten Jr on the half forward line otherwise the forward line would been too tall. It was getting late and I was trying to get the kids to sleep at the same time IIRC. It made it a bit hard for team selection intrigues! In the end I just had to put blokes somewhere.

I grew up around the corner from Bubba so I'm in no danger of underestimating him, believe me!

Surprised at the love for the Kellet bros! [joke]

Nigel has been under rated by some but I wouldn't put him above Bubba or Steve Mac
