Carlton's Jarrad Waite & Essendon's Dustin Fletcher have both been suspended for 2 matches (technically they both got 3 matches, but with early guilty pleas they can have their respective suspensions reduced to 2 matches).

This is significant as we play Carlton in 2 weeks.

I thought exactly that when I saw him take out who ever it was.

and I just traded him in last week! Oh well, great good and the like.

How many times has Waite been cited this season? Along with Hille they seem to be up before the MRP every other week.

3 times now I think.

I'm pleased for us that Waite will miss but three weeks for that bump, wow how our game has changed. I realise that he was not directly in the contest but Duffield was not out of the play either and should've been more aware based on the close proximity. The bump has effectively been removed from the game. Me, don't like and I fear that such decisions may come to haunt us at wrong times, hopefully not in a prelim..

Thought Grant might have come under scrutiny for kneeing that guy in the head but was
watching in a crowded pub and couldn't see it clearly.

Yes the bump is dead. It does take something away from the game, but such is life.
You would be mad to try it now that it is getting towards the sharp end of the season.
I'm really excited about our progress now as we have some quality players about to come in.
Ward, Missy, etc. Win a premiership or not, it is a good time to be a dogs supporters.
Time has taught me to enjoy the season and each moment of a game and not get too upset about
losing premiership prelims.

Surprised Judd got off for the elbow to Pavlich's head.

I thought the reason Judd got off for elbowing Pavlich in the head was hiliarious.

"Contact was below that required to constitute a reportable offence"

Pavlich had to get 5 stapels in his head!! Very lucky IMO.

Waite deserved to go,taking a player out off the ball by a fair way to an unsuspecting opponent is uncalled for .How didn't Mr Visy get suspended? MRP must have envoked the top bloke rule again!!

Match review panel got it wrong on Chris Judd: Mike Sheahan

MOST of us sympathise with Chris Judd and his ilk for the weekly torment they suffer at the hands of taggers.

What we didn't know until yesterday was the sympathisers apparently include the members of the AFL's match review panel.

The panel decision to clear Judd of what was seen as a likely striking charge from Saturday night's Carlton-Fremantle game was a surprise, the explanation a shock extremely difficult to rationalise.

Yes, I agree after seeing Pav leave the field - the cut on his cheekbone with the staples in it seems to be on the head??? I thought "head high" contact was the ruling? Not really hiliarious when you think about it!

The AFL have the right to appeal a MRP decision. If they were ever going to do it, they have to do it in the Judd case.

This is the worst decision ever by the match review panel. Their reasoning is just WRONG. The bloke got 5 stitches. How can they possibly say that the contact was insufficient to warrant a reportable offence.

Where is Ian Collins when you need him.... Oh right this is Chris Judd we are talking about.

VFL related, but anybody have any idea how long Paul Johnson got for ironing out Ben Jolley with a clear, late, elbow to the neck/jaw?

Should easily have been 3 weeks minimum.

Should get 3, probably lucky that Jolley hadn't sustained an injury from the elbow, otherwise he'd be looking at 5 or 6 weeks.

Jarrad Waite has accepted his 2 match ban, so he'll miss the game against the Bulldogs.

TCD do you think Judd should've been sighted for his elbow on Pavlich?

Is there anyone other than Carlton supporters that think that he shouldn't have?

Can't believe it wasn't!

I thought the AFL's mantra was that the head is sacrosanct & here's a bloke with 5 stitches in his face!

Mike Sheahan was spot on & some astute called rang SEN this morning saying the AFL has the power & should appeal it.

Me too. Normally I hate the conspiracy theories but I think a few circumstances directly outside the incident affected the decision (or non-decision). The fact that it was a high profile/golden boy type and particularly the attention he received on the night helped his cause. To be honest I won't get too upset about players who are receiving that kind of treatment getting away with a stray elbow but it looked pretty bad didn't it?
