As a result of the problems the AFL encountered with its finals fixture last season, they have a 'floating' fixture this season.

Closer to the time the AFL will decide which games are played when.

This will enable teams to get a decent break between round 22 & the first week of the finals.

Here is who plays who:

Fremantle v Carlton (Sub) - Fri (N)
Hawthorn v Collingwood (MCG) - Sat
Geelong v West Coast (SS) - Sat
Brisbane v Sydney (Gabba) - Sat (N)
Western Bulldogs v Essendon (ES) - Sat (N)
Adelaide v St.Kilda (AAMI) - Sun
Melbourne v North Melbourne (MCG) - Sun
Richmond v Port Adelaide (ES) - Sun (T)

The bold is when I think they may play.

Any other thoughts?

If Carlton doesn't make the eight the Saints should get Friday night, if not they will get a Saturday game. They will finish near the top of the ladder and I can't see the AFL making them play on the Sunday(but that means they probably will:p).

Tough isn't it chef?

If you move St.Kilda to Saturday, who do you move from Saturday to Sunday?

The AFL seem to have locked in Brisbane to play Saturday night (that's all they seem to play at the Gabba).

There will be 5 games on Saturday and 2 games on Sunday, with the Melbourne v North and Richmond v Port the most likely Sunday games.

Fremantle v Carlton has all but been locked in to Friday night.

Likely R22 fixture...

Friday
7.40 Freo v Carlton (7)
Saturday
1.10 Geelong v WCE (Fox)
2.10 Hawthorn v Collingwood (10)
4.10 Adelaide v St Kilda (Fox)
7.10 Western Bulldogs v Essendon (10)
7.10 Bris Lions v Sydney (Fox)
Sunday
1.10 Richmond v Port Adelaide (Fox)
2.10 Melbourne v North Melb (7)

It will be to make everybody happy.

It may come down to where Essendon are on the ladder, if they aren't in the eight then we may end up playing on Sunday with the Saints having an interstate game(and being higher on the ladder) deserving the extra day break. But then again they could just adjust what day you play in week one of the finals:confused:.

Do they have to have three games on the Sunday?

Seems a sensible approach there Flamethrower.

I can't be stuffed looking it up, but it also depends on who plays the Sunday before as they can't back up Friday night.

The AFL members tickets go on sale on the 1st Saturday in the month proceeding the games. So Augusts tickets go on sale on Saturday 3rd July.

It will be interesting to see if the Round 22 is announced by then.

How about two games on the Friday night one on each coast?

I like that idea, a double header even, especially if it was on the free to air networks.

STAND by for "Super Saturday" in Round 22 as the AFL edges closer to revealing details of its revolving last weekend of the home-and-away season.

The AFL's first step into the "fixturing unknown" is likely to be released some time between Rounds 15 and 16, if the finals teams have been determined.

There appears to be nine teams competing for eight spots, with North Melbourne still very much in the running after three successive wins. And a few of the teams below them on the ladder still have mathematical chances.

Those games seem about right..

The official Round 22 fixture has been announced:

Friday August 27
Fremantle v Carlton at Subiaco Oval, 6.40pm (Channel 7)

Saturday August 28
Geelong Cats v West Coast at Skilled Stadium, 1.10pm (Fox Sports)
Hawthorn v Collingwood at the MCG, 2.10pm (Network Ten)
Adelaide Crows v St Kilda at AAMI Stadium, 3.40pm (Fox Sports)
Western Bulldogs v Essendon at Etihad Stadium, 7.10pm (Network Ten)
Brisbane Lions v Sydney Swans at the Gabba 7.10pm (Fox Sports)

Sunday August 29
Richmond v Port Adelaide at Etihad Stadium, 2.10pm (Channel 7)
Melbourne v North Melbourne at the MCG, 4.40pm (Fox Sports)

----

So by this the AFL give North no chance of making the finals.

Well it would have been between the Brisbane-Sydney and North-Melbourne game for that 5th spot on Saturday night. At the moment the Swans are in the best position for 8th, a game and heavy percentage in front of North. Fixture seems about right.

I almost got 100% correct. Word is that channel 7 requested the Richmond game on Sunday in the off chance that Jack Riewoldt may be a chance to bring up his 100th goal.
