great story, although they added a sweetener with the kid and the 20 cents.

The article says the following:

"Grant, who played 252 games at the Bulldogs from 1990 to 2001, described the decision as the hardest of his football career"

Ummm..... Im pretty sure I was at the MCG some time well after 2001 celebrating 333 games.....!!

After he signed with the Dogs I wrote him a letter addressed to the western oval.
I congratulated him on his decision and thanked him for his loyalty.
He wrote back, not a signed photocopy of a prepared statement but a hand written letter,
thanking me for my support.
What a man. What a hero.
Who will be the next one to emerge after Johnno hangs up the boots?
PS. Of course I still have the letter

The greatest Dogs footballer I have seen with my own eyes.

Don't know if he's the best I've ever seen, but he'd be top 10 for me.

I still have a letter that Andrew Purser wrote me in 1987. I sent him a Happy Birthday letter & asked him a few questions. He was kind enough to write back to me. Something to treasure, like your Chris Grant letter. :)
