THE Western Bulldogs' finals charge is hitting top gear with several key players available for selection this week.
Running defender Jarrod Harbrow is certain to return for the Dogs' clash against Adelaide on Sunday after he was a late withdrawal last week with the flu.

Midfielder Callan Ward, who missed the Dogs' win against North Melbourne with a hip problem, is also rated a strong chance to be available.

The Dogs have won four games in a row - their longest streak in more than 12 months - to jump into the top four.

The Australian reports ruckman Will Minson and forward Brennan Stack are likely to resume from injuries in the VFL this weekend.

Their recovery gives the Dogs enviable depth approaching the finals, with veteran Nathan Eagleton, defender Dylan Addison and forward Josh Hill also playing in the lower grade.

The Dogs have also received good news on rugged forward Mitch Hahn, who has been cleared of serious injury after suffering being hospitalised with concussion.

Hahn, who suffered a knock to the face in his comeback from a hamstring injury with Williamstown last weekend, is likely to miss just one week.

Minson has missed the past four rounds with an ankle problem and Stack has not played since straining a hamstring in Round 15.

Adelaide's Patrick Dangerfield has been ruled out of Sunday's game with a broken hand.

Could of sworn I saw Minson running around for Willi the past 3 weeks:D

Check your bloody facts HUN.

Who do you think will be dropped for the In's we will have over the next couple of weeks?

In
Harbrow
Minson
Stack?
Hahn?
Addison?
Eagleton?

Out
Roughead
Jones
Moles?
Wood?

It's a hard side to get into at the moment, going to be interesting to see if Stack, Hahn, Eagleton or Addison get another game this season. Obviously Jones hasn't got a solid spot in the side but it's hard to say whether Roughead, Moles or Wood, who have been in good form, do.

Hayden Ballantyne is out for at least 3 weeks. That may make a Freo loss in the next couple of weeks a possibilty, with their injury list increasing every day.

Not good news on the injury front. Callan Ward is going to see a specialist about his groin, not looking good.
Dont know how long he will be out at this stage.

Wasn't Ward out with a hip flexor problem (as stated in OP) or has the groin problem re-surfaced?

Resurfaced, dont know whether the hip flexor was a cover up or not.

In regards to injury, hips and groins are closely linked aren’t they?

My first thought when hearing Ward was out with a flexor was that it must be related to his groin issues.

Im no medical expert so I wont comment further. Its not looking good for him. I thought his kicking was a bit down when playing, I guess having the injuries he has, would not have helped.
I guess the same can be said about Higgins and his groin, which has affected his running capacity.

Ward's groin region is ok, apparantely he pulled up a bit sore in the groin after doing some kicking drills early in the week, but that has now cleared up.

He was running laps today, but the hip is still causing a bit of discomfort so no risk will be taken.

Wait a minute, let me check:

foot bone connected to the ankle bone
ankle bone connected to the shin bone
shin bone connected to the knee bone
knee bone connected to the thigh bone
thigh bone connected to the hip bone
hip bone connected to the back bone....

Nope, no connection!

I hope he is okay, he is a very important player and we will need him fit come finals if not before.

Hope the news isn't too bad - I think we miss his "hard-at-it" attitude when he is out!

Lets hope for a speedy recovery. If he is going to miss more than two weeks he might struggle to regain his fitness before the finals.

Really hope Ward can get his body right...for his own sake and ours! He seems a good young bloke. Here's hoping he's not done yet for 2010.

Both O.P and Hip Flexor injuries are annoying. Can't really run or kick while recovering.
Easy to aggrevate it with kicking practice etc. Also may not be helped by Callan being a young lad who's keen as mustard to get back playing footy. He will need to be patient and let it settle or it won't get any better.

We shouldn't have to worry about what other teams do, just that we win.
But isn't it great to look at what might happen with others and even greater when what helps us happens.
North got within 12 goals of us, we beat Freo by the same and now they have two of their best players out = North WINS, Wouldn't it be good if it were that simple an equation !
I barrack out loud for teams I hate, if it helps us, never thought I would see the day I would barrack for Richmond, but had to when they were playing Freo. Ditto GO NORF !

It would be a shame for someone who has already missed a sizeable chunk of football to not be available for the critical part of the season.
