For what its worth I'll have a crack. I can't believe Jolly was named in the squad ahead of Hudson. I think Michael Barlow should have been named in the squad.

Ben Hudson is stiff.

Very much so but it would be a hard argument to drop Sandilands, Jamar or Jolly from the group.

Harbrow getting injured probably cost him a spot in the squad.

He only missed three games. I thought he would be in. Malthouse named him as his Brownlow pick early in the year.

Me too and I was surprised not to see me in there.

When they pick these they tend to forget about the first few games of the year..

Which explains Goodes Constantly getting picked.

Barlow was brillant for his 14 games, Goodes maybe 7 or 8.

Overall a pretty good list though, few unluckys would be Thomas, Jack, Gilbert, Griffen

Heard a news report over here that there were no Power or Crows in the squad and that is the first time since '97 that it has happened. Thought that was interesting seeing the Crows won the Premiership that year.

I think that just goes to illustrate it's nature, you really can't read too much into it. Unfortunately reputations/celebrity mean some are a walkup selection. Barlow would be almost leading the Brownlow when he got injured and missed about the same amount of games that the whole Hawthorn team (including Buddy) were awful for at the start of the year.

An afterthought (given the circumstances) if Franklin is picked will it forever taint the honour?

Am i on my own about Dustin Fletcher? he rarely takes the best forward, has had an armchair ride all year and he gets a bloody AA out of it...Give me Morris everyday of the week thanks....

If it goes on the year and not past, Hall should get in before Franklin.

Yeah, I thought he'd be our next pick after Lake. I know his possessions aren't that of a Midfielder but defense is more than stats.

He doesn't, he's not even in the 40 man squad so he can't be selected. You should know by now Ozza's a dill! :D

Ummm. Maybe he means the big sooks cousin? You know, the one who won the Coleman by kicking lots and lots of goals.

Can't believe Hodge wasn't named in the back half in place of Frawley, this will rob a quality midfielder of a spot in the team.

Frawley wasn't named on the half back flank. This season they have said they are going to pick players in positions they actually play in after the flack last season when Swan was named as a half forward, not in the midfield.

Well I personally don't agree with that at all, the best 22 players should get a gig, I would much prefer to have Judd or Selwood or Hayes, one of these players that will now miss, instead of Frawley as one of four talls down back (Goddard and Enright are also quite tall). They are making the team less realistic by picking all players in position.

Okay fair enough not the best 22, but definitely the best team possible, and if that means playing Hodge off half-back, so be it.

Thought Pavlich had been better.

Also, Taylor has surely got to be lucky. Bomber said before the Freo game that Lonergan had been the Cats best tall all season, yet Taylor got picked in the team, interesting.

I'm glad that they seem to be rewarding people based on this year, rather than waiting for 2+ consistent seasons (think Gilbee). Jamar and Frawley wouldn't have been in otherwise.

Having said that, Judd is in almost purely on the fact that everyone assumes he will have a brilliant year.

That is crazy. They want to be seen as an elite sporting organisation, yet serve party pies and sausage rolls at one of their most prestigious nights? Wow.

Also, noticed the other day that there only 2 interstaters in the side. Reflects how much Victorian sides dominated the season.
