A MAN threatened to shoot Brownlow Medal winner Jason Akermanis and his family in a string of terrifying threats, a court has heard.

Alexander Davidson, of South Yarra, rang the Herald Sun last week and told a staff member, "I can't wait for Jason and his whole family to be in the car so I can shoot them," Melbourne Magistrates' Court was told.

Mr Davidson, 72, was arrested on Thursday and charged with making threats to kill and making threats to inflict serious injury on Jason Akermanis and with stalking Western Bulldogs board member Susan Alberti.
