RODNEY Eade wants to take the Western Bulldogs back to the slick outfit that they were before the malaise set in.

He has identified speed as a way to beat Sydney in this Saturday's semi-final at the MCG, which puts fleet-footed rookie Andrew Hooper in the mix for a debut in a knockout final.

Eade's gut feel means that running back Easton Wood and Hooper are in contention for selection this week, along with ruckman Jordan Roughead, who is recovering from a shoulder injury, and midfielder Brodie Moles, who was considered unlucky to be dropped last week.

I agree. Plenty of first gamers have made their debut in finals.

Disappoints me they did not try this before. Far too many players who have not been right in the body all season. Good players, Higgins, Hahn, Brad, but not 100% right.

I've heard a few people mention Hooper lately.
If any one has the time I'd like some info? Strengths weakness, what to look forward to???

Quick off the mark, very very low centre of gravity..:D, can play in the middle & as a small forward [2nd in Willy's goal scoring behind Matt Little and top 10 in the VFL], multiple goal scorer, hard at it, intensity right up there, only quieries at this stage being lack of fitness at the higher level, but if played smartly, shouldn't be too much of a concern.

Can go missing in games at times, but a switch from forward to the middle could help him out there, a few times he has burst out of the middle with the ball very Mark West like, but a far better kick for goal than West.

A bit like Jared Moore [Swans] / Blair [Pies].

Cheers for that.
Funny, I was just watching a game the other day with Mark West in it, he went well. I remember playing a basketball game against West in the late 90s, he was a very solid lad.
Does Hooper have the weight West had???

Very solidly built, looks a bit out of proportion.

If everyone is talking about debut in finals.
What about Patrick Rose. Mature rookie as a forward??

Your thoughts?
