KEY FREMANTLE defender Chris Tarrant has confirmed he is leaving the club in order to return to Melbourne.

One of football's worst-kept secrets was finally made public on Sunday, when Fremantle released a statement saying Tarrant was heading home.

Tarrant, who turns 30 on Saturday, signed a four-year deal with Freo in 2006, having been recruited from Collingwood in return for Paul Medhurst and draft pick No.8, which the Pies used to select Ben Reid.

30 Years old, I don't think Freo are going to get too much if the form of a trade out of this to be honest.

Probably end up at either Hawthorn or Carlton and Freo wont end up with much for him, maybe a 2ND round pick. Very lucky boy to be able to be playing next year as his ACL was left hanging by a thread when he did his Medial.

Apparently Collingwood might chase him aswell. Amazingly he would be eligible for the vets list*

*According to the Age.

Depends if Rocket thinks we can snag a flag next year with Barry Hall still playing, Tarrant reads the ball very well, could use Lake forward alot more next year.

Yep. Lack of quality tall defenders at our club.

Don't we have 3 already, which would be more than most clubs have. If he was younger I would be all for it but at 30 with a bung knee(according to one of his close makes who lives in Echuca) I would rather us go after something that we need more for our sides structure like a small crumbing forward or quick outside player.

I'd take him.
I would not if we had to give away our 2nd pick. 3rd round I may consider.

Never thought about him at our club tbh...

Interesting prospect if we could use a 3rd round pick.

I think he would be the best candidate for Hawks to replace Brown if he leaves though..

Everitt is not our future (but I certainly don't want Tarrant, though)
