THE WESTERN Bulldogs are poised to use their first two picks in the 2010 NAB AFL Draft on Calder Cannons duo Tom Liberatore and Steve Wallis, after nominating the promising pair under the provisions of the father-son rule.

Wallis, the son of former Bulldog great Steve Wallis, captained Vic Metro at the under-18 championships this season and picked up best-on-ground honours for his 47-possession game against Gippsland Power in the TAC Cup grand final.

Liberatore, 18, is another exciting midfield prospect and the son of 1990 Brownlow Medallist Tony Liberatore.

The Dogs nominated Wallis and Liberatore ahead of the bidding meeting on Tuesday.

West Coast was the only other club to lodge a father-son nomination, with East Fremantle's Jacob Brennan, the son of former defender Michael Brennan, set to become the Eagles' inaugural selection under the rule.

Each club in the competition, with the exception of Gold Coast, has the option to bid for the nominated players.

If a bid is made, the club that nominated the father-son player must use its next available selection to retain him.

If no bid is made by another club, the club that nominated the father-son eligible player can use its last selection in the draft to secure him.

Wallis and Liberatore would have been considered first-round draft prospects if not for their father-son status, however the Dogs will get them with the first and second-round picks.

The national draft will be held on the Gold Coast on November 18.
