JACK Johnson is on the Western Bulldogs' radar. Not the American surfer/guitarist, the five-year-old son of Brad, the recently retired Dogs captain. So, too, is Riley Morris. He is two.

The pair are on the list of 23 pups who are, theoretically at least, available to the Dogs under the father-son rule over the next 16 years.

On Thursday, when their names are read out at the national draft, Mitch Wallis and Tom Liberatore will officially join the club their fathers played for.

Advertisement: Story continues below In a time of diluted drafts due to the two new clubs entering the AFL, the fact the club only had to give up the relatively low offerings of picks 22 and 41 to secure them reinforces the value the father-son rule offers clubs.

Rohan Smith's son should also be on that list, he would be about 12 and is showing some promise.

I hope I live long enough to see them all play for the red, white and blue!;)

Love a good news story. Any chance of getting Ably Smedts up to 100 games before Thursday?

Its very clever from many angles

Great of Scotty to have so many boys, well I guess really his wife

One day there could (long shot I know) be anywhere up to 12 Father-Sons playing in the one team. Heartwarming thought indeed given I saw all bar 1 of their fathers play.

Who did you miss out on? They are all recent.

No, it was Scotty who decided whether they would be boys or girls.

If I recall parenting classes properly I'm pretty sure that the DNA that allocates gender comes rom the male. So it would have been Scooter (albeit unconsiously) that decided the sex of his kids.

A private school thing, my school did the same(Ballarat Grammar) whenever we were on public display and it was summer uniform time. I was wondering where is Will's tie.

So looking at that there are two sets of twins? Rhylee & Cooper West and Mitchell & Jordan Croft. No point to this, just interesting. They could follow in the footsteps of Simon & Paul Atkins!! :D

And Steve Wallis is Lachlan Hunter's coach. Also how much does Lachie look like Mark McVeigh (his cousin)? Fortunately he's already substantially taller.

From an interview that TCD did a couple of years ago;

You’ve got a lovely wife & 3 children, still live in Bacchus Marsh?

Yes, Raels, honey, darl, & my 2 daughters Leah &Toni & my son Ricky.

Do they follow the Dogs?

Yes & no, The oldest girl Leah (18) has a soft spot for Essendon, the youngest girl Toni (16) is a Bulldog who loves Shaun Higgins & Ricky (14) likes Geelong, particularly Gary Ablett Jnr.
[/B]

Availablle here;

From that I'd say that Ricky is 16 now.

Yes that is true biologically, but its always been socially poorly received to give the fathers too much credit for children, when its the women who do the real delivery work

I've been to two deliveries. I'm under no misillusions about who does what and when. I dont reckon I could put myself through that.

Yes well woman must have some say as I have a mate who had twins. His wife is a twin hence the connection.
Fair chance if he had not married a twin, he would not have had twins.

The DNA strand that controls twins is different to the one that controls gender. I dont which parent provides the strand that makes twins.

Its all very interesting isnt it? Hope Granty has boy triplets (although he and his wife may not), if they decide they want more kids.

What's wrong with St.Kevins (aside from the terrible blazers that 90% of the guys opted to wear, as opposed to the navy blue)? PS: In the interest of full-disclosure, I'm an ex-student of the school.

Back in the '80s when I was a kid they had a certain reputation for drug addled alumni.

It's a shame that we couldn't had another 20 yo ruckman on our list (under the F&S rule) in Joseph Groenewegen - 198cm ruckman.

It would have been nice to hear a match commentator call
'Groenewegen palms the ball to Liberatore who delivers the ball onto the chest of Wallis, who in turn spears a pass to Cordy leading out of the goal square'.

Music to my ears!

We could, he's in the draft again this year. Would be around our picks, but if he can't cut it i don't want us going down the Collingwood path of recruiting every son of a friends daughters' dog who once saw them play.

Agree totally - Joseph, like every other player must earn a place on our list.

It's just that we haven't had too many tall sons of past players available.
