DRAINED of experienced campaigners and trying to shake off three years of near misses, Bulldogs coach Rodney Eade is ready to shoot for the top again.

RODNEY Eade has confronted the prophets of doom before and lived to fight another day.

They predicted the Western Bulldogs would implode when the galaxy of stars led by Chris Grant, Scott West, Luke Darcy and Rohan Smith retired in quick succession.

When Jason Akermanis exposed the club's inner workings last year, those same pundits wondered whether it would tear Whitten Oval apart.

Now, after three unsuccessful finals campaigns and with a trio of retirees stripping 966 games of experience from the Bulldogs' list, the whispering campaign has again started again.

Can Rodney Eade take this list to a premiership? Has that window of opportunity closed?
