According to Swans fans, Alex Johnson has been holding down CHB for most of the season and has rarely been beaten. He would also be nowhere near a nomination due to not being an outside running mid or a flanker.

He was a player I thought we should draft. Very versatile,

Great news, well done Liam.

That is great news, but once again I'm left scratching my head as to the selection process. Liam got 9 possessions and a couple of goals including a 'joe the goose' in the goal square. He's been terrific this season but he was largely a non-factor on Saturday. Dion Prestia was far better in Round 24 and has some previous form behind him. Libba was better this week as well - didn't get a heap of it but was very clean and had a game-high 6 clearances.

HAs Libba played too many games to qualify next year?

The Rising Star award is a totally rubbish award under its current guise, the best dressed WAG award even has its measure.

Maybe a late recognition of his season in general?

Yet Jack Steven who has been in the system for 4 years gets a nod ahead of both Libba & Prestia, both in their first year.

Can someone name anyone in the competition (or the planet) who would trade Libba or Prestia for Steven? Even his mum would refuse.

TCD when you put it all like that it looks like a pretty handy team, albeit probably a key defender or two short.

He'll probably fight it out with Stanton for Essendon's B&F as well.

Why? If the recruiters were REALLY good they would have taken these blokes with their first pick, not taken a fly on them at the end of the draft!

Without wishing to be a smart alec is that necessarily true?

Yes drafting's a game of chance and risk, but isn't it an accepted aspect of drafting strategy that if you feel you have relatively privileged knowledge of a player of interest and that he's reasonably likely to be available later on in a draft then it's prudent not to 'go too early' and attempt to maximize your earlier selections on more 'proven/credentialed' draft candidates?

dunno if mentioned before, but are any of D'haus, Wallis and Libba eligible for the RS next season?

In the very first post of this thread it outlines the eligibility criteria (for 2011 anyway).

To be eligible to be nominated for the award, a player must be younger than 21 years of age on January 1 of the award year and have played 10 or fewer senior games before the beginning of the season. A player who is suspended during the season is not eligible to win the award, however is still eligible for nomination.

I can't find (after 3 seconds searching) how many games they played, but i think all three will be eligible again next year.

Hooray!

Libba - 16 games

Wallis - 6

Dahlhaus - 11

So only Wally is eligible next year of your three mentioned.
