View Full Version : If Johnno doesn't come up...

What will we do about a forward line?

McDougall seems the logical replacement but he's come good since being sent to the backline. He would probably be a good matchup for Holland, but so would Williams.

Perhaps Williams could get tried forward?

B: Morris Harris McDougall
Grant
HB: Murphy Hargrave Everitt
C: McMahon West Ray
HF: Akermanis Williams Cooney
F: Darcy, Giansiracusa
R: Skipper, Boyd, Power
I: Cross, Eagleton, Higgins, Tiller

Williams could take Newton and Hargrave could go forward, perhaps?

Are Johnstone and Bruce expected to play?

Starting seven defenders against a team playing for draft picks?

I consider playing Chris Grant as a loose man to be an attacking move rather than a defensive one.

Replacing Johnno depends on whether the match committee consider him a tall or a small.
Either McDougall or Robbins could be direct replacements.

I wonder if they would try something like

BK - McMahon - Morris - Williams
HB - Murphy - McDougall - Hargrave
CN - Power - West - Ray
HF - Akermanis - Grant - Everitt
FF - Giansiracusa - Harris - Cooney
RK - Darcy - Cross - Boyd
INT - Skipper - Eagleton - Faulkner - Higgins

Out's Tiller, Johnson

Who takes Neitz? Holland? Newton? Robertson (if he comes up)?

Going all out attack?

I like Murphy down back. I'd like to see Faulkner & McDougall get a proper go, whatever their crimes in Eade's eyes.

Bit rough on Tiller, but I suppose this is the week to experiment.

Morris on Newton
Hargrave on Roberston (Robbo might not be fit so Hargrave could be a spare)
Williams on Neitz
McDougall on Holland
McMahon on Davey

Grant and Harris are obviously insurance for defensive problems.
I'd like to see us really attack their forward line by running off them at every chance. Williams could really test Neitz by running off him. McDougall to try and run off Holland as well. If both of these guys use the ball well and limit turnovers we could get the ball moving forward quickly.

The only way to kick a big score without Johnson is to put two in form talls like Harris and Grant in the forward line and get the smaller blokes crumbing off them.

Fair point.

That is certainly taking an attacking stand,

I think they will go with:
Harris on Neitz
Williams on Holland or Newton,
Hargraves might be a good one for Bate,
Morris to Robertson

I see McDougall playing at full forward if selected

What makes you think Faulkner is going to get a shot this week?

The team has been named as unchanged which is surprising. I would have thought McDougall for Tiller could have made sense and lets face it Johnson must be very doubtful.
Does playing all these games with selections really give any team an edge?
I guess it must.

Maybe a last minute change depending on Johnno?

I can't see how he will play but the emergencies all played well last week so while it's near on impossible to cover our leading goal kicker, this is as good as team as we can select at the moment. A must win game

No... We should win with or without him. It is probably more important that he is fit for the games following this one.

Agree, we are going to need him in the last three rounds,. best not to risk him.
