Greystache, Griffen needs another 7 votes between now and the end of the season to beat the previous record in the Marmo which is currently held by Adam Cooney with 36.5 votes in the 2008 Marmo.

Here are the previous winners and their votes..

2010 - Adam Cooney ( 28 Votes)
2009 - Matthew Boyd (31.5 votes)
2008 - Adam Cooney (36.5 votes)
2007 - Matthew Boyd (35 votes)

Notice the trend...Cooney and Boyd every alternate year...if Matty Boyd wins he'll maintain the trend. If Griffen or Murphy win they'll break the trend.

James - BOG in the James this week is Jason Tutt, both he and Liberatore also polled in the Marmo votes.

Ryan Griffen - takes the honours for season 2011 as the winner of the Marmo.
Callan Ward- is the winner in the James for 2011.

Yes thanks BB, I've not had so many head scratching sessions in my life.:).
I'd hate to think how the umpires go after a game, sometimes number 1 is a standout but it's that 3rd or 4th position that really has to make you think.

Look forward to do it all again next year.

Boyd is a massive chance to win/place in the brownlow IMO and he couldn't get top 2 in this. Are we too hard on him?

Quite possibly we are too hard on him. He wins a lot of the ball and usually does the harder stuff that others seem reluctant to do. He lets himself down with his disposal though, and I'd go as far to say that a lot of his 'effective' disposals aren't perhaps as 'effective' as they could be.

He needs to either:-

a) Continue to work on his disposal (especially in tight by hand) and consistency of disposal; or

b) Go back to a more defensive role. Having a fit Cooney would assist a lot in this aspect, as without Boyd playing a ball winning role we'll basically be reliant on Griff and Libba to be our prime ball winners/clearance players.

FWIW, even though I thought he had an ordinary game disposal wise on the week just gone, I still had him in my votes.

That is a good point. For me I think it is just the fact he doesn't catch the eye as much as other players when I watch the game. I am always surprised when we get in the car on the way home and the radio tells me Boyd had 38 touches or some other crazy figure.

When you watch the replay later you start to see what he has done. Even then though my mind is always drawn to the match winning goal or bouncing runs ala Murph or Griff.

Silly thing is if you ask me what wins games and I always think one per centers and sheer hard work with a dash of talent.

LostDoggy

I think another thing to consider is that this voting is done simliar to how a BnF would be done.

For example there might be a game where Boyd had 35 touches, Morris kept someone goalless and Picken shut someone down aswell as getting some ball himself. We would vote Morris and Picken ahead of Boyd, however Boyd will more than likely get the 3 in the brownlow.

I think i heard Corey Enright won Geelongs BnF a couple of years ago and didn't get 1 brownlow vote.

Interesting that both Higgins and Grant finished with 1 vote each. Effectively 'last', in terms of votes. If we are to go anywhere in the future, these two have to become good players. At the moment, they are incredibly far off it.
