I unfortunately have never met the man, but he makes some valid arguments

Great article. I didn't know he'd changed his name to Mustafa. Mustafa Southern. Has a ring to it…

Wonder if Mustafa will ever move back to Australia?

Another Father:Son pick in the making, although given he hasnt watched a game in >7 years his son may follow his new habit

Did he play enough games for father-son?

Great interview on the ABC yesterday.Lot of admiration for Daniel from Chris Grant.
Talked about how Cairo was one of the safest places to live before the revolution, with his son born amongst all the carnage.Couldn't get over the game on Friday's lack of an "enforcer",with no accountability.Certainly a different breed to the Bali holidaying footballer of previous times!!

Heard part of that interview as well, and just read the interview in the Age today. Makes you really think about how the game has changed in a reasonably short time, but I guess it's just always evolving (for better or worse, who can tell?) He seems pretty comfortable in his own skin and is obviously very happy with his new life! Good on you Daniel!

Wonder if we could get an interview off him for Larikins and Legends. Would absolutely love that. A great character.

Anyone know how I could get a hold of him, that's always the tough bit.

It's interesting the gap between the way people perceived (and wanted) Daniel to be because of his haircut and the way he played the game and the reality of the man off the field.
I'd forgotten how young he was when forced to retire, it felt like he'd been around forever.

TUD, he was such a humble and caring man off the field, but when he crossed that White line he gave all for The Dogs, as West Coast and Peter sumich discovered
