RYAN Griffen isn't a big city kind of guy. Raised in Goolwa, the Western Bulldog finds the city too busy.

The second he gets a day off, or can get away after a Friday night game, he jumps in the car and heads out of town.

But far from retreating to glamorous beach house like some of the AFL's elite, Griffen goes to his caravan at Barwon Heads, on the coast past Geelong.

It's quiet and uncomplicated, just the way he likes it.

"I like to get down there and do some fishing, get out of the city, go relax and do some of the stuff I used to do when I was a kid. That's a good release for me," he says.

The 24-year-old won't stay in Melbourne once he finishes footy.

"No, I think somewhere in Victoria," he says. "I'm not a city boy; I find it pretty boring.

Good to see he's settled in Melbourne and seems to truly love the doggies!

Loved this bit:

"I'm settled. I love the club and I love the boys around the club; I don't want to change that," he says of his footballing family of seven years.

"I'm enjoying every minute of it. I've got my girlfriend here, and we live together. I've really settled into Melbourne quite well, I love rocking up to the Western Bulldogs for training and I love playing with those guys."

I like the fact that Ryan talks about the guys sticking "fat" when the chips are down - and that they feel they are letting the coach down! He is obviously a very down to earth character who doesn't like the "fast lane"! Wonder why he doesn't want to move back to SA though? After footy of course!
