This is a great way to retire and a great way for fans to say goodbye. Its a real shame that some of our stars of the past like Grant, West, Darcy, Smith, Johnno didn't announce their retirements early so we the fans can say goodbye properly.

Good timing that he announced it ahead of the Swans match at the SCG.

Chance to say goodbye.

I missed it, what did the dickhead have to say.

He said it was wrong for players to call a press conference because they are retiring and called it a waste of everyones time.

And he thinks calling in about that is LESS of a waste of everyone's time?

Can you imagine Bazz as a runner? :D

Forward Coach/Part of the furniture?

I'd love him to come back to work with the forwards.

Thanks Bazza wish you had played your whole career for the dogs.
HOPE you stay with the club as a forward coach.

Yes, I also hope he stays with the Dogs in some capacity - his knowledge of the game and in particular the forward line, surely would make him an ideal mentor to our young gun forwards......

Would have won a couple if Bazz was at the club at the same time as C.Grant, and probably would have pulled off sneaking over St.Kilda in the '09 prelim.

3AW Rumour file this morning suggested he was opening a gym with someone in Yarraville which will focus on giving boxing training to underprivileged kids.

Sounds like he's embracing a future in the West

Why wouldn't he? It's the perfect fit .. certainly more so than Sydney ever was.

He was setting up a personal training business with Mitch Hahn at the start of the year, this might be an extension of that.

The 'Dog for life' thing didn't last - he confessed to being a Swans fan during GF week. That's understandable given where he spent most of his career (and he did say he hoped the Dogs won given the drought)

Was nice to see him present a debut jumper this year though - repeated that his two years here were the most enjoyable of his career.

I thought it sounded like strange thing to say. He played in a premiership at Sydney.

He had a beaming smile on his face in the rooms for fox footy on Grand Final day.

Yep.
In the rooms with Johnno after the GF and I wasn't sure who had the biggest smile or was enjoying our great win more.

He spent 6 years at StKilda (including a GF appearance), 8 years at Sydney and 2 years with us.

Sad reflection on the Aints that they don't even get a mention.
