Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
The below article by Jon Pierik is in The Age today. I have read it a few times to try and make sense of it but it just seems to contradict itself over and over, and I am referring to Pierik, not Dank.
Thymosin beta 4 not on WADA banned list: Stephen Dank

Danks is actually dobbing in everyone higher up and the fact is it doesn't have to be on the banned list it has to be in the accepted list which he fails to accept it isn't .. If everything was so innocent why would he say he didn't want the afl or Asada in when the club welcomed it ? And also why was he sacked if it was all above board ?
Kangaroo court ? If your innocent it doesn't matter if you did nothing wrong !

That's a safe bet. I can only hope the sports media leave it alone and Stew gets a pass!!

I guess at least we get a decision.
Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
He's basically fingering the EFC for their Teflon approach to everything, because at the end of the day the EFC and to some extent the AFL have been trying to finger Dank and Robinson as the architects of the whole saga, whilst withdrawing from their dawn statement of self-reporting and full culpability.
I don't really like Dank, but as I review the whole sorry business he's probably played it better than anyone else has.
Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
That's some very strange comments from Dank. He's basically admitted he gave the players TB4 and is saying it shouldn't matter because it's not really preformance enhancing. How can Essendon possibly be cleared of the charges?
Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
Another interview in The Age with Bomber Thomson tonight where he is saying the players will fight to clear the stain from their name if they are found guilty on Tuesday. I have been indifferent but now I really hope they get significant suspensions and the club folds. Essendon are the stain yet they keep trying to deflect blame. I am quite disgusted by their unwillingness to accept responsibility. Thompson says he did all he could to stop the program, but he doesn't say who over-ruled him. They were injected by the club, but the club doesn't know what they were injected with. Oh, but they do know it wasn't in breach of ASADA rules. I am hoping for 2 year bans with no backdating. It will end careers but the players can hopefully sue the Bombres for lost earnings not to mention damages.

I think what's probably going to become evident over time - which Dank eluded to - is that the EFC did know what was being pumped into the players and this whole BS governance issue, or lack thereof, is actually a cover up.
"We're very sure we didn't administer anything that was against the WADA code, but we can't tell you what we administered to the players"
I'm paraphrasing the bile I've heard since the saga started, but essentially this is what the EFC Executive has been telling everyone...............
Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
Anything less than 6 month bans if found guilty would be wrong. What needs to happen though is that a harder line needs to be taken with club officials. It comes down to governance and a systematic regime to cheat and obtain an advantage,
Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
The likelihood of Essendon copping more than 4 weeks from an AFL tribunal = likelihood of the Dogs picking up the ANZAC day slot.

Don't forget that the tribunal isn't made up of AFL staff.

And if the penalty is insufficient, WADA will no doubt appeal to have it lengthened.

I have said this all along, not only Thompson, but his assistants must have known what was going on. You can't have 34 players being injected and the coaches know nothing about it, that is utter rubbish.
If Thompson was so concerned, why didn't he blow the whistle early on. Lots of questions in my mind about every one at that club. I don't blame just Hird, I blame everyone at that club at that time.
Re: ASADA issues show-cause notices to Essendon players
Who gives a crap anymore, what will be will be. The only stake I have in this is whether Crammers can play for us this year or not but really he'll get the same as the rest of them. The investigation and the appeals will run its course over time but it will take 50 years for the Essendon Football Club to get over this. Every time they run out onto the ground they will be booed because the ugly poo stain they have left on the fabric of AFL stinks and will be long lasting. I'm fatigued of it all to be honest and have blocked it out of my conscious, just as I have blocked out most non-Bulldogs AFL garble over the last few years.
