Re: Welcome to the Western Bulldogs Riley Garcia
I suppose the question is where do we think he can play? He’s going to be up against it to get minutes in the midfield or back half in 2021, and will be behind other young players like West, Weights, VDM etc who probably have eyes on forward line roles as their best opportunity to fit in.
Re: Welcome to the Western Bulldogs Riley Garcia
Afel.com.au reporting we’ve started talks with Garcia to re-sign him.

He's definitely impressed the right people at the club. I'm just trying to find what his point of difference will be as a player for us.
Having talked him last year (along with Cody) his attitude is spot on and he is a likeable young man and seems to be a real student of the game.

I think his point of difference is speed. Whether he plays midfield or becomes a specialist small forward, he has more speed than Dunks, Wallis, Libba, Bont, West. The club would be playing the longer game with him as a replacement in the future.

Thanks, yes they do appear to be into him for the long haul.
I've not quite seen the pace component in him though. I wouldn't have said he was an overly quick player but we do have slower types.
Re: Welcome to the Western Bulldogs Riley Garcia
Last year was a write-off for Riley coming off an ACL and then having no real footy to play.
Definitely worth giving him another year or two to prove himself.

Spot on, we drafted a player knowing he had a LT injury that would restrict him. We are playing the long game with him.
Re: Welcome to the Western Bulldogs Riley Garcia
McNeill and Scott have come into the side as smaller quick role players and are important to the way we play. I love their tenacity but Garcia may well overtake them in a year or two, he plays with a similar style. Garcia has perhaps played more 'pure mid' than the other two but I'm happy to give him more time

How good will it be to see 38 running out on the field again?
I suspect he's straight in for Scott, similar role to he and McNeill (and VDM)?
Re: Welcome to the Western Bulldogs Riley Garcia
Great for him and the club.
As an aside that’s 8 new debuts in our jumper this year, nowvonly two players at the club haven’t played a senior game (Jamarra & Bedendo).
