Ryan Griffen: I'd Never Leave
Scott Gullan - Herald Sun - 3 September
RYAN Griffen has pledged his loyalty to the Western Bulldogs, declaring he wanted to win a premiership at the Whitten Oval.
The star midfielder, who signed a two-year contract extension, revealed he'd never considered returning home to Adelaide.
"I never ever thought about going home, to be honest," Griffen told the Herald Sun. "I have been here for six years now and I'm extremely happy".

Way to go Griff - love your words!

Excellent!!
Great that we have been able to sign both Cooney & Griffen up this year..... Signing Harbrow up would top it off, but that's looking unlikely. :(
Re: Ryan Griffen: I'd Never Leave
The only questionable thing to me is why only 2 years. A player of his calibre should be a minimum 3 year contract.

I would think that would be player and manager driven. His next contract will be his biggest as he'll be around 26 and in his prime.

I'm tipping that wasn't our choice. Thats when he should be at his peak and able to command the most money in his career.

His last contact was two years as well, so maybe that's just how he likes to do it.
Re: Ryan Griffen: I'd Never Leave
When does free-agency start, and what are the minimum qualfications for a player to qualify? Is it 8 years service? If so then at the end of this contract he would be eligible, and would no doubt be in a much stronger position negotiation wise.

Just hope we don't resign some dubious guys again.

Who would these 'dubious' players be?
