Apparently it has to do with the GF of the AFLW having its own time slot. That is what I heard anyway.

I actually like Saturday twilight. It can pretty smoothly fit in with other plans you might have.
Sunday twilight games are full on depressing though and should be banned forever.
C'mon AFL, turf Essendon and Carlton from the primetime slots.
Hand us Anzac Day while we're at it.
You know you want to.
AFL confirms Tigers, Blues fixtures
Another Friday night blockbuster has been locked in for the Western Bulldogs, with the AFL confirming the fixtures for round seven and eight of the 2021 Toyota AFL Premiership Season today.
The Bulldogs will take on the reigning premiers, Richmond, to start round seven.

It will be the Bulldogs’ second visit to the MCG for 2021, with the Tigers to play hosts for the game on Friday 30 April at 7.50pm AEST.
The match will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and Fox Footy.
From there, the Bulldogs will have a nine-day break before hosting Carlton in round eight, on Sunday 9 May at Marvel Stadium at 3.20pm.

Surely we can sell the vacant sponsor space on the back considering our upcoming prime time appointments.
Raking in the friday night games, turns out that playing well with a visually appealing style helps in that regard.
I wouldn't be against a rotation idea selling it in smaller lots if we can't land the big commitment.
I have faith in the team behind the scenes they've been pretty on the ball of late, but I do wonder with Friday night games how we haven't sold that space.
In Nick Truelson we trust
Cornes having a whinge about the game with Port should be prime time on Friday night instead of the Saints. :)
I’ll take the extra days break.
