I hope Daniher stays, puts in a half hearted effort and walks as a free agent next year.
How can you hold a guy that clearly wants to leave to his contract? The cultural impact would be horrendous. Essendon and their bulls*** bravado at trade time is exhausting.

Has a club ever had the cahoonas to say no to a player who was contracted? Like I know we all say that the player has all the power in negotiations but have we ever test6ed that contention in a court of law?

Re: Other club trade talk
Many involved in trade week, least of all Esserden, actually don't know what the purpose of trading is. Essentially one party has resources of abundance or otherwise another party needs, though conversely, the other parties most likely have resources the original party needs. The parties work together to exchange resources so both or all can improve.
It gets complicated when the commodity, in this case labour, has a stake in the decision making process (see corporate mergers, acquisitions or takeovers), and it's here that everyone in the AFL seems to lose their shit at this time of year. Particularly Essingdon.
That shithole of a club thinks its resources are worth more than every other clubs (you know, one injured Bombres player is worth two of its oppositions injured players as a rule) as a starting point. That's a really cooked way of looking at things, and it's this unreasonable outlook that wrecks the entire process. They undervalue everyone else, and overvalue their own, distorting the market and hampering the ability of all to take on the benefits of the trade process.
By far and away they are the most selfish self entitled *!*!*!*!wits to grace the league. The supplements saga proved this, if we didn't already know it from their cap cheating in years prior, and the most disgusting thing about it is their supporters seem to relish it. I mean what a bunch of bloody losers these people are.
I agree with G, the only thing that will stop this shit and send a signal to any other dickhead list manager is to place a moratorium on trading with them. They just don't get what the whole thing is about.

Cam McCarthy.
The first time Freo tried to prise him out of GWS with a sub-par trade offer while he was under contract the Giants (quite rightly) told them to GAGF.
