  1. Re: The misfiring mids cruelling the Dogs' finals chances

Ouch. Maybe Bont read it pre-game and his kicking confidence nosedived further.
  2. Re: WB FightBack30 V Melbourne R17 2019

Re: the song. Does anyone remember, For little while after 89, the lyrics were changed..they used to have: Remember 54, until I guess that was a bit embarrassing  and we changed to Remember...
  3. Re: WB FightBack30 V Melbourne R17 2019

I feel certain the coaches would have been happy with Roarke’s game. I don’t know if he will make it longer-term, but he is still very young in terms of experience, and those two goals were like...
  4. Re: Doggies Top 3 Greatest Upsets 2000-2019

I thought it was a game where Liam Jones arrived too. The line between making it or not is so very fine.
  5. Re: Doggies Top 3 Greatest Upsets 2000-2019

The names who played well...Jones, Minson, Griffen... Tutt!!! ....surprised me. it’s fascinating how much turnover there was and yet the bones of the 2016 flag were there I guess. It seems much...
  6. Re: Doggies Top 3 Greatest Upsets 2000-2019

One I remember fondly is mid season vs The Pies, 2014. We were rank outsiders. An article had been written saying our club was ‘irrelevant.’ We had been playing unwatchable footy. Thing were grim....

Re: WB Game Day V Geelong R16 2019

Yep, you nailed it. And Taxpayer Funded Stadium has exorbitant seat prices, plus a fortress atmosphere where they get far more than their fair share of frees. No wonder Ablett and Selwood were...
  8. Re: Bankers and Anchors, 2019, Rnd 16 vs Geelong

And we gave the guy a guard of honour #neverforget2009
  9. Re: Is this the competition's most underrated player?

Underrated and unobtrusive are almost always in sentences about Jackson. He is a gem, and he may be under appreciated by those outside the club but watching him every week is a real pleasure.
  10. Re: The English patient: Tall ruck wages a battle to bulge

Really? That’s harsh. Lane and Cometti are both callers more than journalists. Shaun Carney is mainly a political writer. I thought the article was ok in giving us a sense of Tim the person.
  11. Re: When things arenít always as they seem

I wonder if Geelong’s accuracy is linked to their home ground advantage.

Re: WB Game Day V Carlton R13 2019

The emotion of footy is such that it always seems this game, this season, this quarter is THE worst we’ve ever experienced. I wrote in my blog that when I thought Carlton would win, it felt like it...
  13. Re: Three things you have learned round 13 2019 v Carlton.

Gardner getting another game is an example of feeling the clubs messaging is very confusing. Him leapfrogging into the team and now being guaranteed another game is hard to understand unless the...

Everything is better in the morning. Good reminder that we got a lot right.
  16. Re: Three things you have learned round 13 2019 v Carlton.

It is clear though that our game plan is overly focused on getting the ball in Daniel’s hands. He is a neat but far from penetrating kick. Dinky little kicks, or wheeling round a few times to find a...

Re: WB Game Day V Carlton R13 2019

Charlie Curnow had five frees and a 50m penalty. I’m not sure how many of his frees resulted in goals but I’d be pretty pleased if Aaron Naughton or Bont got the same largesse.
  18. Re: Bankers and Anchors: Rnd 13, 2019, vs Carlton

    1. Dunkley was immense.
    2. The English - Bont combination work early on was quite wonderful. Poetry.
    3. We won. And lately that doesn’t happen too much, and it’s a helluva lot better than the...

No wonder there is an apparent epidemic of mental health concerns among players when some want to squeeze every ounce of fun out of the game.

I’m with you. We invest a lot emotionally in the players. I feel sad that Tom might enjoy local footy more than the apparent kudos of the big time. I have wondered if given how young he is, we could...

    Re: Jordan Roughead

I guess the question is what OUR side of the story actually would be. He is not a malcontent of questionable character. And based on the 2019 form of our club, our defensive and ruck stocks, and...

This is quite confronting. I can dismiss what Dahlhaus says, but a heart and soul player talking like this makes me alarmed about the club culture that is currently being created. I hope Roughies...

It’s always hard to remember how good or bad things were in the past, but hey, those Royce Hart years (yep I was around for them too) don’t remotely resemble where we are at this year. We won...
  26. Re: Three things I have learned-round 11 v West Coast Eagles 2019

I’m not one of those that endlessly bags Gowers, I can see the reasons he is selected, even though I share the frustration at his erratic form...but honestly, using stats to differentiate between him...
  27. Re: It's been a tough season so far in 2019 but........

. Billy Gowers might be the worst player in the AFL – his continued selection is so bizarre it’s almost suspicious.

This line makes ME suspicious that this has been written by one of Gowers’...
  28. Re: When things arenít always as they seem

I don’t think he was the ‘main change’ though of course a significant one. The staggering change is not the loss of one coach, surely it is that NINE premiership players are gone.
    Natural...
  29. When things arenít always as they seem

I am at a loss to understand this. Not the fact we did not win. The Eagles are a powerful team, on their home ground, with more to play for than us. But something about this performance has raised...

  40. Re: It's been a tough season so far in 2019 but........

Intriguing. Is it just supporter angst, or do more of ours result directly in opposition goals? And what’s the definition of turnover, because a turnover caused by extreme pressure (five blokes...
