Re: In praise of Jackson Macrae

What I love most about Jack is how he turns up each year with a new trick to his bow. He obviously worked on his goalkicking over last summer to the extent that he's become a fairly reliable one goal...
  2. Re: Three things you've learned Round nine 2022 v Collingwood

He's so important isn't he? We look so much more solid and reliable with him down back.

100%. They had heaps of quality but you need a bit of grunt and some resilience too. Some blokes who have had setback and overcome them on their path to a spot on an AFL list. Blokes who have proved...
  5. Re: Kick-2-Kick Podcast, 1974 and David Thorp

Re: In praise of Jackson Macrae

That was more with Brisbane than with us though wasn't it?. I mean he was borderline flying with us at times but his truly great footy was with Brisbane.

He still made going to the footy a...

Leon Cameron too. Him and Hawkins both had the advantage of being genuinely at home kicking the ball left and right footed so they could go in either direction and leave the opposition looking a bit...

    Re: Following our ex's...................

I'd reckon so too. His newspaper work would be paying him between $150-$200k alone and then there's his TV and radio work on top of that. I think he'd be making closer to $500k PA than $200k.

Re: "Not worth a thread" chat

The pooch takes photos? Damn ( I resisted the urge to say doggone) that's a talented dog. I'd have introduced him to the Bont for sure.

    Re: 2022 - Leon Cameron

Can't see the attraction with Hird as a senior coach. Apart from the disgrace his shenanigans heaped upon Essendon, his coaching record isn't that good. It's 41-1-42 for a less than 50% winning rate...

    I got it.

Back in the late '70s and early '80s we carried more passengers than an airline. We should have gone into logistics.

    Re: Following our ex's...................

33 games in 4 years hardly says he's been knocking the door down for AA selection.

Marcus had his moments for us but it's only been 5 games so far this year. Let's wait until season's end to...

  30. Re: ‘The only club I wouldn’t put my hand up for right now’: Why Hawks legend Cyril Rioli has stayed away

  31. Re: ‘The only club I wouldn’t put my hand up for right now’: Why Hawks legend Cyril Rioli has stayed away

Yeah I remember reading that he ignored advice from his company and it left him exposed to the sortie from the Zulu warriors.

The quote I've used is from Charlie Lovett (from Darren Arthur's...
  32. Re: ‘The only club I wouldn’t put my hand up for right now’: Why Hawks legend Cyril Rioli has stayed away

In the forward pocket? He thumped it about 20 metres over the boundary instead of trying to take the mark (which is obviously what the two Sydney defenders were expecting him to do). It was exactly...
  39. Re: Why is Weightman "WELDED" to the Forward Line?

Dale Weightman was a great player but Cody...
  40. Re: Why is Weightman "WELDED" to the Forward Line?

I watched the game from level one around the 50 metre line. It was pretty obvious as the game wore on that the Swans defenders were getting more and more Cody conscious as they ran to contests or...
