  1. Re: Bulldogs, Destination Club: What have we done ????

Playing good football late in his career, good luck to him.

Shows just how late talls do actually mature. Ted Richards was 28/29 when he nabbed his first nomination in the AA squad, and Shaun...

He doesn't take the really big guys at the Crows. Elite interceptor, and weirdly the Demons are going hard for him.

  4. Re: Always Right Match Committee Thread Round 18, Vs St Kilda

One SEN interview over summer was telling. A huge proportion of their cap during the 09-11 era was spent on their top 6 players and they had years of back-ended contracts as a consequence. Their TPP...

    Re: Proactive Poaching

Media reported earlier in the year we were going to target him as a forward.
I'm not sure I've seen him play forward, he has played everywhere else (even chopped out in the ruck this year).

    Re: Proactive Poaching

That's not unreasonable for an AFL standard KPP. Trengove is on $400-425k, although he can ruck too.
We have cap space and Day is an RFA so keeping our picks is a bonus. Latest unsubstantiated...

Re: Josh Dunkley - A power Mid in 2019

In this instance he had plenty of exposed form to draw from though as Dunkley had played predominantly forward and predominantly centre in previous years.

As an uneducated guess - Dan Butler.
Fringe in a side that has multiple small forward options, we need a small forward, I say a third rounder would be enough and we've got three of them.

    Re: Proactive Poaching

I'm very keen on Day but the latest rumours are that he signs an extension at the Suns.

We have more cap space than they do - they actually had a cap squeeze at the end of last year!

Re: The moment rnd 17 2019 vs Melbourne

Bont did the same thing earlier in the game.

There were a few moments but Dunkey's tackle, Bont's tackle were up there.

I actually have to add one not yet mentioned - Sam Lloyd's first goal....

Crozier was on him for the third (holding free).
Crozier is fantastic for us but gives way more goals than Trengove does. Gave a free away late in the game too.

Trengove kept their ruck duo to 1 behind (combined) for the day, he more than played his role. He nullified Gawn in the ruck in the 3rd quarter.

  26. Re: Always Right Match Committee Thread Round 17, Vs Melbourne

Trengove needs to just try and get his opponent to stop and wrestle so we can have a third man in at every contest. Cordy is the second tall player but our smaller jumping types (Wood and Crozier)...

IIRC Jono Marsh had an issue with clearance when St Kilda signed him just before the season this year. I'm sure the AFL 'made the problem go away' in their usual manner.

  30. Re: Twist in the tale: Young Dog's demotion sparks career-best form

Yep, from being in the stands to being Bonti's housemate just a few weeks later. Not a bad little introduction into the AFL world.
  31. Re: Always Right Match Committee Thread Round 17, Vs Melbourne

    I'd go with no change.

These games are the type we have dropped in the past. With the fightback jumper we really need to get the group fired up for a big one.

I'd take Smith over Walsh, purely on hurt factor of possession.

We have enough accumulators. Walsh can turn the ball over.

Re: Three things you have learned R16 V Geelong

We really struggled to get the ball out of their forward press for the first three quarters, we took a while to adjust to life without him.
  40. Re: Is this the competition's most underrated player?

They didn't even mention the best part of his game that was completely absent when he was drafted. He had to learn it.
