    Re: Essendon

I thought Hibberd was a good pick up for them, especially after losing Myers last year.
Daniher is a real worry. Third year virtually being out of the game. They turned down two first rounders for...

Re: The Tall Dogs in 2020 - a change in tactics?

If there are passages of play where the ball is moved slowly and the opposition defence do get back - we're going to need multiple players who can get front and square of the contest.

    We know both...

Re: The Tall Dogs in 2020 - a change in tactics?

That was more due to his running capacity than a mismatch I thought. He covers a lot of ground. I'm not sure how we use him this season.

    Re: Getting Lippi with it

TBH if we're talking "the big four" I would expect Bailey Smith to be the fourth - the kid could be anything.

As a pure mid I still rate a fit Libba as a starting mid at most clubs, as he can win...

Re: Josh Dunkley - A power Mid in 2019

Dunks starts games off well - perhaps moreso than our other mids. He had a 15 disposal, 5 tackle 1 goal 1st quarter towards the back end of the year didn't he?

It's interesting, but I feel our forwards started to be far more effective when we starting playing more permanent forwards.

    Re: Preseason Training - 2020

Bruce seems to have either fitted in quite well.... or our KPDs are terrible and Bruce is murdering them. St Kilda fans all think he'll do better in our system with better delivery into the F50.

Re: Welcome to the Western Bulldogs - Ed Richards

Has pace and footskills - that sets him apart from many of our best 22 locks.

I still have question marks over his production forward of the ball. He plays 'ok' on a wing and has his moments as a...

    Re: Getting Lippi with it

West is still young and Weightman hasn't debuted. Lippi has the body of work behind him and is in most best 22s.
We seems to have a few second stringers who would be getting games elsewhere but are...

    Getting Lippi with it

I know our midfield focus tends to be our "big three" plus Hunter on a wing, but it's really the next level down where the situation gets interesting.

Bailey Smith is a lock, but the most...
  14. Re: AFL considering a State of Origin revival to support victims of Australia’s bushfire crisis

Will be interesting when Toby Greene and the Bont line up in the same team. Might see a bit of 'Warwick Capper at the Bears' kind of vibe.

I don't mind Dyson. He runs hard - how difficult it is to gut-run late in a game is underrated by your average (non running) footy fan.

I'd imagine Vics will go with Gawn, and Goldstein if they want a second ruck.
  37. Re: AFL considering a State of Origin revival to support victims of Australia’s bushfire crisis

Bingo. It's not 'extra' football that has the sports scientists so concerned about loading, it's a replacement for one meaningless JLT game.

  39. Re: AFL considering a State of Origin revival to support victims of Australia’s bushfire crisis

Not sure anyone would ask for three starting mids from one team + wing.

I suspect JJ gets a run for the all stars, Bont and Hunter for Vic.
