    Re: 2021 Jumper Numbers

I'd prefer he keep the #35.
We have a lot of legends with the low numbers. I'd like to see some created wearing the big numbers. Loved Libba snr in the number 39.

    Re: 2021 Jumper Numbers

I don't think numbers who such a big deal in those days. For kids that had gone through the aftermath of WW1 and the depression, i imagine just having a mangy jumper would have been enough.

Purser was the most perfect specimen of a footballer. He never had a hair out of place, never raised a sweat, never looked fatigued but always played to a high consistent level.

I agree. Essendon's players/draft picks hold no interest in my view. And not sure on Treloar.

  14. Re: Random Bulldog memories, impressions or images that stick.

Great recollections Jeanette. I can just remember listening to an early 1970's night game on the radio. It seemed very low profile. Pity there is no photo's/video of the games.
  15. Re: Random Bulldog memories, impressions or images that stick.

When did that stand get pulled down? Was that the one known as the 'cow shed'?
  16. Re: Random Bulldog memories, impressions or images that stick.

That was Peter Welsh who had the misfortune of the ball bouncing over his shoulder.

Great interview on the 'two dogs' podcast with Steve and Gordon Casey.
  18. Re: How many Dogs players (and other teams' AFL players) were good at basketball?

Scotty West attributed basketball with helping with his peripheral vision on the footy field.

Looking for to the ruck match up: Darcy vs English.
Both were drafted the same year being the two highest ranked rucks.
Darcy, a Victorian went to WA.
English, a west australian came to Victoria.
