Re: WB Game Day v Essendon R21 2019

North fans already hate Essendon, this would set both sets of fans off. I hope this happens.
  2. Re: Always Right Match Committee Thread Round 22, Vs GWS

We really wanted Ben McKay. Oh well.
Happy enough to have taken an inside beast Premiership player instead who has been putting up elite numbers since the bye.

    Re: Proactive Poaching

    Yes depending on cost.
He can play both ends. 30 years old so is just a stop gap for 2 years, if we took him I'd hope we draft another tall and between that KPD or Lewis Young they are ready to go...

    Sticky: Re: Player Contract Status

Young list that are performing ahead of expectations in many respects, I wouldn't want too much movement. As long as we keep who we want to keep.
We'll lose nobody from our best 22 this season and...

    Re: Following our ex's...................

Technically he is as our cap payments extend to 31 October? He's a premiership hero, we should claim him for every extra second we can!

    Re: Proactive Poaching

So many figures bandied about - yesterday it was mentioned we had a $650k offer in (which seems high) and Essendon had upped their offer to $500k, and will possibly go higher to keep him.

    I'd be...

Carlton internally are very confident on landing Cogs who would cost a packet at trade time.

    Re: Proactive Poaching

If we managed only Martin and a KPD I'd still be pretty happy. We must have a truckload of cap space available so we can keep the core of our list together while we add quality.

Re: WBFC - Player Contract Status

As do I, although does the Lachie Young equation change that? Surely we couldn't have expected him to have done so well this year. I expect he's an 'upgrade to the main list' candidate.

    Re: Proactive Poaching

Well they have 10 players over the age of 30, with 6-7 being regulars in their H&A team.
I think Hawks have one eye on generational change. They did it with Lewis, Hodge and Mitchell and Roughy is...
  11. Re: Do the western bulldogs have the competitionís best midfield?

Ditto, although I imagine Martin would split his time wing/forward. He's been doing inside mid work at GCS but I'd prefer him with a little bit of time and space to use his leg. Quite decent overhead...

    Re: Proactive Poaching

I think overall we tend to get a little obsessed with planning for 3-4 years down the track at the expense of wasting the talent on our list who are peaking right now.

    Re: Proactive Poaching

What if he costs close to nothing at the trade table?

We've rotated Hayes, Williams and Roarke Smith through the wing and Isaac is an enormous upgrade on all three. We need to get older.

  15. Re: Do the western bulldogs have the competitionís best midfield?

What if we add Jack Martin or Isaac Smith to a wing?

We could cement the number 1 spot during trade week.

    Re: Proactive Poaching

  19. Re: Always Right Match Committee Thread Round 22, Vs GWS

Hasn't Libba been ruled out already?

Barring injury, no change. Caleb Daniel unlucky if fit. Rhylee West unlucky regardless.

  27. Re: Itís time for the Western Bulldogs to grow up

Re: Damien Barrett what's his agenda ?

Apparently he has $800k remaining over the last two years (according to a Crows fan).
Not sure that changes much but I've moved into the 'acceptance' phase of this rumour.
  31. Re: Young Sun facing four-year ban for positive cocaine test

From a team perspective - worse.
It may be at instruction from the coaching group but from the outside looking in that seems unlikely.
