Re: Woof Player Awards Rnd 7 - Western Bulldogs vs North Melbourne

    4. Matt Boyd - great captain's performance
    3. Ryan Griffin - must have a few brownlow votes by now
    2. Will Minson - dominated the ruck all day
    1. Liam Picken - didn't just apply the glove to Harvey, applied the blowtorch

Hard to leave out many others including Brian Lake, Tory Dickson and Daniel Cross and good signs from Ayce Cordy and Mark Austin.

    4) Lake( great game against a guy who kills us)
    3)Griff( is our best player)
    2) wallis( looks comfortable at the level)
    1) Picken( great job on that diving little you know what)

    2) Wallis
    1) Cordy ( photo finish with Libba)

I know it sounds old and corny, but that was a team effort

    2- Dickson
    1- Boyd

I agree with mjp's call on Boyd.

    44 @ 50% >>> 28 @ 75%

Efficiency as a stat in isolation is a bit misleading too IMO. You can have great efficiency if you kick sidewards or backwards all game. Don't get me wrong, Boydy does butcher and it but it doesn't take him from elite to average. It takes him from elite to whatever the rung just beneath it is.

Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.

Still an awesome statistical game since that is what you are measuring.

Add in whatever intangible you like that describes the benefit of the teams captain sticking his head over the footy 100 times each week and running further and faster than any other player on the field.

    Not in our best 4?
Yeah probably harsh on him. I do love Boyd, especially his hardness and commitment at the ball. As others have said, needs to play within his limitations, which means less kicks and more handballs. Frustrating to see those kicks go out of bounds, or just slammed on the foot straight to an opposition player.

I am like that with Boyd too, think we all are! I definitely get what you mean, it's just easy to over correct and as you say, be too harsh.

Thing about Boydy is he works so hard for his touches. I tolerate a lot more if you are the one actually earning them in the first place. He is like a billionaire who wastes a lof of money. At the end of the he is still well ahead of average!

    4. Griffen - outstanding (particularly the first half).
    3. Lake - shut down Petrie (who usually kills us) and had a huge influence with intercept marks.
    2. Wallis - tremendous game from him, offensive and defensive - and had the mettle to kick an important set shot goal.
    1. Boyd - Had double the amount of ball as Swallow. Was everywhere. Sets the example for hunger.

Crossy is stiff - he was great, much less of the ball this week but more important. Veszpremi, Sherman and Dickson also unlucky to miss votes.

    RJ:
    2. Wallis
    1. Cordy.
