Rookie Johannisen upgraded
10:08 AM Wed 25 Jul, 2012
The Western Bulldogs has elevated exciting rookie defender Jason Johannisen to the Club’s primary list this morning, replacing James Mulligan who was placed on the long term injury list a fortnight ago.
Johannisen, a second year rookie, has been in terrific form at Williamstown this season and is in the mix to make his senior debut in the coming weeks.
The 19-year-old was recruited from East Fremantle with selection 39 in the 2010 Rookie Draft.

James Mulligan should be on the long term no footy skills list

Re: Rookie Johannisen upgraded
Looking forward to see JJ get a run, hopefully adds some much needed excitement into the team, and inject some added pace.
For the Willy watchers, is he purely a midfielder or similar to Stacky running off a half back?

I think Stacky half back is probably more JJ's style.
Will be a tough initiation in that role against StKilda who know that all they have to do is apply some physical pressure and we crumble.

I know mulligan isn't going to make it but do we need comments like this? the forum is negative enough without resorting to stuff like this.
I should leave it alone but you're not right

Agree, the Mulligan bashing is pretty ordinary.
Anyway, good luck to JJ. Hope he grabs his chance over the next few weeks.

For those of us who haven't seen him play, what's he like?
The fight is here; I need ammunition, not a ride.

First to play with us,
I found Damien Cupido, Stephen Lawrence and Ian Muller on Wiki,
More south african born than imported really.
There's been a few at state leagues and a couple of rookies.

has come along way since he was rookied - 196 games to date and another season to get to his 200th
JJ extends at the Kennel
Western Bulldogs defender Jason Johannisen has extended his time at the Kennel into a 15th season, putting pen to paper on a one-year deal.
It means the 31-year-old rebounding half-back will remain in the red, white and blue until at least the end of the 2025 season.
The Club?s only Norm Smith Medallist, Johannisen was drafted with Pick 39 in the 2010 AFL Rookie Draft.
He endured an injury-riddled campaign this season, playing nine games at AFL level to bring his career tally to 196 matches.
His best outing of the year came against St Kilda, collecting 31 disposals, 12 marks and six intercepts in the 60-point win.
Bulldogs? GM of List Management and Recruiting, Sam Power, said he was pleased to have Johannisen remaining at Mission Whitten Oval.
?JJ has been an important part of the Bulldogs for a long period of time and we?re excited to have him around our group for at least another season,? Power said.
?He provides speed and run from our defence, while making good decisions with the ball in hand.?
Johannisen joins Riley Garcia Buku Khamis, Taylor Duryea and Lachie McNeil to re-sign with the Club in recent weeks.

Hmm not sure we needed to keep JJ but let's hope he can be a pro and get his body right.

Yeah. Not sold his body is going to get many games. His head and heart is in it. But that’s not the important part. Not many list spots now…

I believe there was a mention in the injury reports that the medicos had figured out the issue with JJ's calves and he was over it by the end of the season. Obviously he ran out of time to make it back to the AFL side. Fingers crossed the issues won't resurface next season.

You are correct.
I actually am backing our medical team in to get him right to compete for a spot in our best 23.
More of an In Bruges guy?

This sounds like absolutely non quantifiable mumbo jumbo and I have no faith in any of it.
Prima facie (yes got it in again) I'm rejecting it outright
