I don't think it's to do with mistakes just our new list manager and coach knowing exactly what they want and don't want.

I guess we must have felt guilty for stuffing Hawthorn around with the Hill trade, so we more than made up for it 2 years later with the Lake one.
Might be a good example of why you'd go in to a trade period with a solid plan, with defined parameters and execute the deals within those parameters to ensure you have cards to play later, I would have thought.

Re: Josh Hill - hindsight is what it is. Hill started that next season really well playing partly as a HB sweeper, which kept him involved in the contest. A month in, I was kinda relieved we ended up saying no to Hawthorn in the closing stages of that trade period.

Then he does what he does for the balance of the year and is worth even less.

If there's a lesson, it's trade out inconsistent players when they still have currency.

In reality we didn't want to trade with Pelchen because he kept us on hold for so long. I think we strung them along towards the end so that they couldn't execute any other trades.

Waiting until the last minute worked against them.

We also gave both Hill and Everitt 2nd chances by knocking back deals a year earlier than when we ended up trading them and we still couldn't get them to play the sort of football we wanted.

No, this is just the first time this board has been tested when we have performed as badly as we have over the past season. It was all roses on here between 2008-2010.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Not exactly from what I remember. There was a lot of angst on the board that we couldn't make it past the prelim. If we only had the problem now.
