And Lyon has a pretty good game plan against the Cats.

Freo might be light on for tall backs now. Hawkins , Pods and maybe Harry Taylor forward would be hard to handle.

Agree. If it was in Perth I would give them a chance, but down here their record is very poor, and the forwards will give them a big headache. Geelong by 9 goals for mine.

They won 4 of 5 in Melbourne this year and lost to Collingwood at the G. I'd suggest their recent Melbourne form is pretty good. I would have tipped them against West Coast and think they'll run Geelong pretty close. The McPharlin injury might just be the killer though.

I'm really disappointed we didn't get the derby, would have been fantastic.

Sorry should have said specifically at the MCG.

They have beaten Richmond there this year, but before then it was 10 straight losses.

Its possible Doug may have said this as a joke.

I've heard him refer to Jennifer Hawkins as his 'niece' before at a sportsman's lunch.

How sad is it being a bulldog supporter?
A finals forum on here, and all we can relate to it is an old champion of our club might be a relative of someone playing in the finals this year.
What's worse is we are discussing the words 'might be'. We still aren't good enough to get an 'is'.

Nice to see an Aussie band at the peak of their powers headlining the GF half time show in The Temper Trap.

The bat mobile really defines bad GF entertainment for me.

Great Idea this year to have entertainment at the end of the GF . If your team loses you won't want to hang around.

Well that's the first match of the finals series done and the Hawks get a week off and are going to be really tough to beat. Can the Pies still win the flag? Im not sure now.

10 goals out of Cloke & Krak, big game by Swan, still lose by 6 goals. Their 16-22 players are not contributing anywhere near enough - this was their great strength in 2010 and even last year.

    Re: AFL Final Series 2012

    Their forward line is woeful.

Cloke is obviously a quality player and Krakouer is a very handy addition, but who else is there? Dawes is a spud, Sinclair/Fasolo inexperienced, Blair has had a poor season (why play him midfield?), Didak is unfit/finished, Goldsack's injured (and not overly dangerous anyway).

Thomas floats through there but he's nowhere near as damaging as he was in 2010. Sidebottom is an exclusive midfielder now.

They really need to find some forwards.
