Surely the coaching and conditioning staff can hardly be expected to cover every option or base there is, in just one preseason. They have been working on bulking up players, increasing their strength, improving all their PB's for running, correcting their lifting techniques, upping general fitness, improving kicking techniques and general disposal skills, teaching/improving positional skills, rehabbing injured players......... just to name the ones I can think of off the top of my head that have mentioned.
Don't know about you, but I'm getting tired just thinking about it. It's a pretty fair load for 3 or so months. You do not want to overload them physically or mentally before the season even gets under way.
For mine I am quite happy that Andy has not fired all his cannons in his first preseason. It is good to hear he still has other ideas/options up his sleeve to continue our player development, and that he will continue to find ways to improve our players physically over the seasons ahead.
For mine it sounds like he has a very professional approach and attitude. More strength [ sorry about that one..ha, ha] to him I say.
And I am sure the players will appreciate the fact that he may have a few new things for them to try-out next preseason, rather than just a repetition of the same old same old. Variety can keep enthusiasm levels up during the off season slog period too.
