    2007 National Draft

Just like to hear everyone's thoughts and preferences on who you'd like the doggies to take with their picks 5, 19, 35, 43 and 48 picks. I'll kick it off:

PICK 5: Ben Mcevoy (if the dees dont take him)
    PICK 19:Callan Ward
    PICK 35:Jarrod Grant
    PICK 43:Taylor Walker
    PICK 48: Michael Hurley

    Thanks.

Grant probably wont last that long, I think Walker is tied to the Swans and I might be wrong but isn't Hurley too young to be drafted this year?

Walker, I have just found, is tied to Adelaide. As for Hurley, as far as I know, he is eligible for the draft, but then i could be wrong too.
If those two are indeed unavailable, any other propositions?

Yes Walker is tied to the Crows. What are you using as your reference material to work out the likely draft picks?

Any chance Scott Garetner will be available for our pick 19? Could we even take him with our 1st pick?

    Steve Gaertner.

By the way does anyone think we will use a late selection on a Travis Baird type player with a bit of senior experience?

PICK 5: Ben Mcevoy - Maybe
PICK 19:Callan Ward - Long gone by then.
PICK 35:Jarrod Grant - Long gone by then.
PICK 43:Taylor Walker - Tied to Adelaide.
PICK 48: Michael Hurley - Ineligible.

I am not really sure what question you are trying to answer, but if you just pull 5 names out it is going to be really hard to get a line on things/what your thinking is etc.

If Hurley was available, he would be a top tenner for sure.

Tied to Adelaide, does that mean F/S?

Or is it an unwritten law that later draft picks go to their perfered clubs or something similar?

I think it's under the NSW scholarship thing the AFL introduced in the last couple of years. Teams can pick up youngsters when there 15 and once they get to drafting age can add them to their list. I'm not totally over the specifics but it's all about trying to retain youngsters playing footy in NSW and give them a pathway into the AFL.

We should get some sons of real nasty defensive NRL players eg David Gillespie (chap who ended Peter Stirling's career)
