'It's time to end football socialism'

TOM ELLIOTT: The AFL is going to introduce several new equalisation measures this year to try and further even up the competition. Enough is enough. It's time to draw a line under 'football socialism'.

And the best part of the article is

The reality is this: with the draft, the salary cap, with the way the draw is structured, the weaker clubs already have enough support.

What a pile of drivel written by someone who hasn't given the subject a moment's thought. Newbloke is a tool too, does he honestly think anyone but a complete imbecile would not be able to see through his ridiculous arguments?

How does the 'structured' draw help us? Oh wait, I remember it is all our blockbuster and Friday night games we get!!

If what we've seen is socialism I don't want to see what football capitalism looks like.

I can't actually fathom how somebody who has one iota of knowledge of the AFL system can truly hold these beliefs.

In your opinion C54 is footy socialism a good thing or a bad thing.

All I want for footy at the highest level is an equal draw and equal opportunity to make revenue. I'm not talking about a completely socialist system where every club's revenue is pooled together and re-distributed evenly, just an equal opportunity for each and every club to work toward the ultimate success.

Re: 'It's time to end football socialism'

So how would where players go be decided if the draft stopped "helping" the weaker teams? Wait to see who blows last in the circle jerk at millionaires' camp?

The draw being weighted? What draw?

This is so so so SO stupid.

ED, what type of answer did you expect? As an aside note what degree are you studying at UNI?

My professional opinion is that Tom Elliott is an attention seeking knob. Apple never falls far from the tree.
